My First "Big Boy Bike!"

Well, I broke down after two years of riding a hybrid hand-me-down and picked up a new commuting/short range touring bike. It's a 2012 Trek Lane. I love it. Sorry for the wires in the background; only place I could get a good shot of it for now. :> Future upgrades planned into toe straps (off the old bike), new rack, etc. Already have lights mounted on it. Everything else is stock for now.

nice!

before i got the Nashbar steel CX, i was looking at the Lane. looked good on paper.

unfortunately the local Trek dealer told me i was nuts for wanting steel and that he didn't feel like ordering it until he had a larger order to put in. ah well.

ENJOY! and please torture me with a review.

Beautiful bike. I looked very hard at the Trek Lane myself. I love the understated paint job.

What a bizarre thing to say. Did he give you any great insight as to why you shouldn't own steel?

sorry for the highjack, but yes, he was quite adamant that no one rides steel anymore. he had never heard of the Lane and when i showed it to him in the dealer book he laughed and said what i really wanted was a full-suspension MTB, which he just happened to have right over here...

i shook hands, smiled and left.
