Which one for 20km commuting? Norco Yorkville or Trek 700?
Hi Commuters
I'm about to return to commuting and I have these 2 bikes in mind:
Norco Yorkville
Trek 700
I'm on the heavy side (~100kg 1,76m), but i believe both handle my weight without much problem.
The path is a 20 km round trip (10 + 10), 70% through bike paths and the other 30% on calm streets. I rode 2 days with a Bixi, to check if the path was feasible for my physical conditions and didn't have problems to complete it, even with a bridge to cross. I imagine these bikes are lighter than the Bixi, and with thinner tires, should be a piece of cake.
There's also the cheaper Nakamura, but I didn't find positive reviews on the brand, but it's a possibility, even with the front shocks
What do you guys think?

They both look to have a similar level of componentry, though the Norco is a 21 speed and the Trek is only a 7 speed - if your commute isn't hilly, that won't make a big difference.
As far as looks go, I'd take the Norco. But you should probably ride both and see which one YOU like more and is more comfortable to ride, as that's the most important thing.
