Crap, the LBS near work is going out of business.

for the past 5 years of my bike commuting, i've enjoyed the convenience of having a very good LBS just 2 blocks away from my office in downtown evanston (chicago burb), but i just got an email informing me that after 40 years, they're going out of business and closing up the shop. it was so nice to be able to take the bike over there and have a broken spoke fixed or other maintenance issues taken care off while i worked, and then walk over and pick-up the bike and ride home.

i guess all is not lost, there is another very good bike shop about 3/4 mile away, but 3/4 mile is just never going to be as convenient as two short city blocks.

i will miss you, Turin bike shop. so long.

yeah... it's really surprising that Turin (1027) is closing. Very sad indeed. They've been a fixture for such a long time. I think I heard that one of the co-owners is opening up a "Turin" in the loop.

I hate to hear of any business going under, but especially a bike shop.

i hate to hear of bike shops closing as well. you would think bike shops would be able to stay in business a lot better these days.

I would love to open a bike shop/ coffee shop somewhere.

In our town, one bike shop went under, a beloved one in business forever that had stock of all the obsolete parts no one else could get.

Then two more shops opened up, one in the same storefront as the closed shop...
