how to get back out there
Oh fellow commuters, I need all the encouragement, tips, and kicks in the b*** you can give.
I've been very, very lazy after a vicious virus and some un-historically bad weather here in Stockholm. Usually when this sort of lapse happens, I buy some new stuff to get me going, but now I honestly have all the gear I need (I think...).
So how do I get out there again?
Facts: short commute, +3C and raining most days, 15- 20 mins = the commuter train, I can read and be dry, 20-30 mins.

Wait for a day when it isn't raining and dress for the cold. Rain + Cold = Subway for me. Just cold and I'll sometimes ride, but I only sometimes ride even when it is warm.

After you awaken each day, start your day with exercise. Shower and then meditate for a few minutes as you return to center. Eat a small bowl of wheat grain cereal, dress for the weather (rain or shine) and then, roll out to your commute destination.
* It would help to listen to something soothing to your soul while doing all of this...
I personally, listen to sounds of sea waves against the seashore, smooth jazz, or elevator music.
Just do it!
PUSH through it!... After the first day, it gets easier...
OTOH
You could just call on a female friend who likes to cycle, and plan a weekend recreational ride together.

You are in one of the prettiest cities for commuting ... I used to go from Fridhemsplan to Frescati every day, sometimes with a little extra through Norra Djurgådren and it was such a nice ride.

You have to be your own motivation. Give yourself time. If you have all the gear you need, buy something frivolous to go with the ride.
Try reading some of the stories at https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/ Maybe you'll get the itch to do a crazy ride. What better way to train than to commute?

Sometimes you just need a break. There's nothing wrong with taking the train for awhile.
I had to take a lengthy break from riding when I got mono. Honestly I was wishing to get back on my bike the entire time, but knew I couldn't. Once I got feeling healthy again I was ready to go. The weather was nice though, and my city does not have very good public transportation.
Normally I would say to buy something.. I know I'm always extra excited to go for a ride when I have new gear to try out. Are you sure you have *everything*? You could always buy a nicer winter rain jacket!

+1 on taking breaks now and then. Maybe it would help to do some fun easy rides after work, and let the desire to commute come back to you.
