Still a lot of Wind this morning but I left earlier so I was fine. I'm starting to get used to it. Tonight I should have a crosswind/tailwind and tomorow the Wind should die down to a low 5 kmh NW Wind. I can't wait.

Lot of traffic this morning for my quiet rural road, I even got honked at by a car I've never seen before, he'll get used to me

Seems like it's warmer up north than it is farther south, on the coast. It's cold and windy here today. I'm scheduled to ride 19 miles to pick up my car. Now I'm thinking about whether I'll do it or wimp out.

Yesterday, turned around and went home because bike was making funny noises. Today, rain. Tomorrow, need to run lunch errands. Can't catch a break to get a ride.

Would have been a great day to ride, but alas, getting home at almost 1 AM from a concert and then getting up at 5 to ride is not my idea of fun. So I slept in till 6:30, took my son to school at 8 and then drove to work. Maybe Thursday.

Chilly weather, but comfortable for riding.. And I've lucked out pretty well this week with hitting stoplights just right.

The wind sucked yesterday and added about 5 minutes to my ride home though.
I'm hoping next week's schedule allows me to try some different routes.

Relatively mild temps this morning in mid-40s F, but the wind made it feel much colder. I was fighting headwinds and crosswinds most of my commute, so it made for a tougher than usual ride. On the plus side, I installed some new 28 mm Vittoria Rubino tires over the weekend, and they rolled nice with a cushy ride. They actually measure only 26 mm but must have more volume than the 25s that were previously on the bike.

Another low 30's morning.
Stayed fairly toasty the whole way, my fingers are getting a little cold by the end of the ride.
Thinking about picking up a pair of mittens, I ride a fixed gear so I don't need to shift or brake.

37F/3C Cooler for sure and it does not help that I have a mild cold with the sore throat and headache thing going.

Still some blustery winds whipping around the DC area.

Boy oh Boy, if it could stay like this all winter we would be golden. A nice ride in this morning, 29degF/-2degC, clear, the sun just rising and breezy but not bad. Last night I had a strong crosswind going home but a good ride regardless.

For the first time in weeks Last night I had a strong tailwind, I took it easy for a change.

This morning I had a strond headwind/crosswind again.
Nice sun, -9°celcius. Still a lot of traffic for my rural road.

I forgot to mention that yesterday I pass the 9000 kms mark for 2013, my goal of riding 10000 kms in one year is still possible. I just hope the weather will be on my side.

Approaching 1800 miles on my odometer (purchased in March).

A nice ride home last night with a slight tailwind helping me out.

The ride in this morning was a bit colder than it has been (27F when I left), but no wind at all. Had a guy pull out in front of me, but I didn't have to brake. It was only when he almost immediately put on his right signal and slowed for a turn that he got an earful. A similar situation happened a few months ago at the same spot. I'm thinking that drivers aren't expecting me to come down the hill at that spot at 30mph and assume they have more time than they do.

Ride safe everyone!

Brilliant! I actually calculated yesterday that with working days left this year I'll be about 70 miles short of my goal of 4,000 miles. When I started thinking about working on holidays I realized it's just a goal, not an obsession!

30F this morning, clear and sunny. I met a new commuter today. She told me her job pays workers $0.75 per mile to ride. Honestly, I had no idea places did this but I'm now lobbying hard for this policy at my workplace!

Still adjusting to the time change as well as cooler temperatures. I was used to riding to work in the dark and riding home mostly in daylight, but that is all reversed now and it seems like the change is increasing the run time needed for my lights-batteries. Regarding temps, I'm basically relearning what clothes combinations work best for given weather conditions. Some days I hit it just right, while other days I over or under-dress.

That is awesome.
So with your 4000 miles you can generate an extra 3 grand per year just for not spending money on gas? Sounds like a win.

i know how you feel. I'm the only person that seems to commute here, and everyone thinks I'm crazy for riding all of 10 miles to get here.

I'm in the south. The trend here is being fat and lazy and eating margarine

I wrote this yesterday. I actually did it, riding from my place in lower Manhattan through the Bronx, to Mt Vernon, NY. It was extremely windy and somewhat cold. I was well dressed, but it was a challenge, because sometimes the wind was in my face, and sometimes a crosswind wanted to knock me over. Plus I didn't know the route and had to climb some steps to get off and back on the bike route. Traffic was heavy and a bit confusing, and I lost my cue sheet on the Grand Concourse. So it was an adventure that I don't regret taking.

Nice enough commute in this morning. 51 Deg. F at home, then dropped to 49 by the time I got to the Metro station. No wind, no hassles with cars or trucks, fairly crowded on the (Green Line) Metro but well behaved sardines so no worries!

On the Metro, when the train is getting close to my depart-station I put on my helmet and gloves and most folks "get it" that I'm getting ready to de-train and move out of the way so I can get to the door. The "bike area" is close to the door, which is good. Just starting to get light (a little) on my ride from the station to my job.
