Great commute home last night, nice weather, the fastest I've made it in a long time. It was warm 65░ this morning with a little rain, actually a bit hot with my setup but we're expecting cooler with thunderstorms this evening.

+8 celcius this morning (WTF!?!) I stripped a bit on my way to work, I didn't know where to put my jacket once I took it off. Finally strapped it on my rubbermaid container. Big big tailwind so the ride was easy 1h07 for 27.2 kms on studded tires (!!!) I'll pay for it tonight.

Wow. It was 7C here in the Golden State. I just wore a sweater and was super comfy.

About 40 degrees. The nearly full moon was up and shining through the thin cloud cover. It was nice to see the countryside of my commute by moon light. It gave me a scenery fix that I've been needing for months, with my dark both ways commute. No rain this morning, that was nice too.

Oh boy, weather underground alerts for tornado watch, severe thunderstorm warning, area flood watch, and wind advisory, with no end in sight for the next few hours. It should be an interesting ride home, but it's falling and fallen trees in the eight miles of the forest path portion that worries me most. I'll risk that over the frustrating traffic on the alternate route. Wish me luck!

Toughest commute this morning in a very long time. I drove yesterday due to forecasts for high winds and severe storms, which didn't arrive until about midnight, so I only had only day left (today) to reach my goal of 600 miles total cycling for January. The cold front had passed during the night but it was still raining and very windy when I got up. The rain quit by the time I left, but it was still very windy and the roads were wet with lots of limbs down. I had to detour twice for school buses that passed me and then immediately stopped to pick up large groups of students. Then I had to detour another mile due to a broken traffic signal where my route crosses a very busy, 8-lane, US highway. The wind was blowing 20-30 mph out of the west, which meant I had a full headwind about one-fourth of my route and cross winds at least half the way. Arrived at work in exactly 60 minutes, about 5 minutes longer than my typical commute and 10 minutes longer than my good days.

The storms settled down overnight but my normal route is under about a foot of water in places this morning so I had to deal with traffic lights and hopscotching city buses. Wind at 15-25 mph with gusts higher, was not a problem so I can scratch that off as a potential issue for my streamliner

Rear derailleur froze up this morning for the first time this winter. Enough snow on the ground to get the drive train coated in some slush, and with a temp of 14F it was cold enough to freeze it up. I gave it a couple whacks with my boot before locking it up at the train station, so we will see what it is like this evening. With a strong headwind likely on my way home, I wouldn't mind some functioning gears.

28 degrees in El Paso this morning, but no wind and a very comfortable ride in to work. It's good to be on two wheels!

I got laid off Monday, so I don't have a workplace to commute to for a while. I'm searching very diligently and feel optimistic that I'll land a job quickly. In the meantime, I'm riding a bit for fun and errands.

So Sorry about that. Enjoy a little time off and ride more. I haven't commuted in about 3 weeks now. Different problem, too much work, and its all far from home out of town. Not a bad problem to have I guess.

Very, very high winds on my commute in this morning combined for a portion with a downpour. Tree branches were flying down and around me. Scary.

The ride home temps were dropping, strong head wind.

All in all, it was kind of fun.

What a ride in (and home last night)...strong headwinds, snow, about 20 degrees colder than just the other day....one of those rides where I think the wind might just stop me dead in my tracks.

Another tough ride this morning to cap off a very hard week of bike commuting. I managed to ride three days and drove the two days that turned out to have the nicest weather, thanks to the crappy weather forecasts in our area. Wind has been the big problem this week and today was no exception. It looks like I'll get the double whammy today as well because winds are supposed to shift during the day so I'll be riding into headwinds both way, with a big drop in temperatures as well. Winter riding can be so fun!

Hey, folks, thanks for the empathy. You'll be glad to know that I'm very optimistic for myself this time. My job sector has heated up once again, and I expect I won't spend much time "on the bench," so to speak. I even interviewed with a recruiter on Wednesday! And I'm getting more emails from others.

Just in case you have any leads or ideas for me, I'll link my resume here.

Tom Reingold, System Administrator and IT Generalist

I'm feeling lucky, but wish me luck anyway!

crappy week for commuting - only rode 1 day. I was hoping to ride today but when I got to the airport last night it was snowing and there was a lot of ice on the roads. This morning it's 5F with -10 windchill and I totally wimped out. Hoping for better next week

Cold!!! However, I broke a personal record for riding in 2 F. Ended up overdressing and sweating a bit... not good.

It was awesome. Started out decent snow, ended in white out conditions. Must have passed 200+ cars stuck in traffic. Kind of wish I had my studs on though.

my ride in this morning was beautiful. 48 degrees to start, and calm. I towed my Bob Ibex behind the road bike today instead of riding the commuter in with panniers. It makes me really think about which I prefer, and I think I lean towards using a trailer. The ride home should be perfect; low 70's and sunny. I cant wait. My commute today saved me approx $16.06 in gas and tolls.
