After reading through these posts I'm feeling a little encouraged that we're not the only one with a very late coming spring.

Today the commute was much like yesterday's commute. Strong and cold eastwind on the way in (hardly any traffic at 05:30) and the same wind in the back going home with a lot more traffic (16:30 pm). Unfortunately I'm still having to use my winter commuting clothes, but after this weekend they promised me rising temperatures.
After the ride I usually check my avg. speed and was a bit disappointed that it was just 27kph (about 16mph). Maybe it's my my new tyres (Schwalbe little big ben's 40mm.) pumped up to 3 bar (both front and rear). They for sure are supple and comfortable and as I ride they make a little humming sound. In the weekend I will put on my vittoria randonneur hypers and see if that will make a difference.

Forecast for the weekend is for freezing rain and snow... we are not supposed to see above freezing temperatures until the middle of next week.

From my ride yesterday... the main roads have been clear but sheltered spots like this are still full of snow. Riding up all this slush it was not that bad... low gears and wide knobbies make for some really good traction.

Today was my first full commute (both ways) in 2013. I got my shift Tues-Sat changed to be an hour later so I can commute in the day light of mornings all season long. Ride in was a little chilly but I made it in great time and had a great day at work. Eating half a pizza for lunch was not a good idea... the ride home later was kinda difficult Drivers were surprisingly nice, probably because it was sprinkling and overcast the whole way home. I wore short sleeves for the ride home and thought it was going to suck because of the rain but I was warm anyways - good thing I wore a synthetic t-shirt under my jersey.

Unfortunately, not too well.

Karma will catch up to that tool.

Nice ride in, light mist, warming up.

Nice to be back in the saddle after working out of town all week. Great ride in this morning, 37degF and calm winds. First ride this season without the studded tires and hiking boots, so the slicks and clipless pedals/shoes made me feel like I was riding the wind. Glad to get rid of the winter gear for another season.

First commute/shake down ride of 2013 yesterday, beautiful sunny weather with temps in the high 40's. Awesome!

This morning a bit chillier, with temps in the upper 20's and a bit of a headwind. Face was a bit cold at the beginning, but warmed up enough quickly, and enjoyed the ride. Mostly walkers & runners on the MUP around the lakes for some reason - very few cyclists. Go figure.

Dark. Rain. About 50 degrees though, so I chose the sauna of rain gear over the chilly wet clothing. The roads were busy this morning. At least 7 cars passed me in 9 miles.

My pickup broke down, so my choices were ride my bike in the rain or ride my motorcycle in the rain. I have good riding gear for both. I get fat on the motorcycle.

Sunny, 50F with a strong headwind (15+mph)

One way commute today. Got the evening off. And since my schedule for the next month is torture, went ahead and gave a ring to the lady. We're gettin' hitched! Time to celebrate.

Today was my first bike trip to work. I left thirty minutes before I usually do; in fact, I arrived at work ten minutes before I usually leave. It took me 21 minutes to make the ride, including two ocassions where I had to stop and adjust my chain. I found two red lights on the way up, but I slowed my approach and they both turned green before I got there. One of them is triggered by weight sensors, so it was good that another car was at the intersection. I've been doing six-seven mile rides in my neighborhood and practicing hand signals and so on, so I'm excited about trying the trip home, where there will be a little more traffic: today I was passed by all of three cars. Two were on the highway, and one was on a long road by the paper mill. No trains, though I crossed several sets of tracks and left early in part so I'd have time to get around them if one was stopped at the tracks.

I was the first one at work, and was able to cool down in the 44 degree weather and enjoy a book on geology before someone arrived to open up.

Had to start at 4am today so I carpooled in and rode out. One word to describe the ride home: WET. If the road wasn't soaking me from under, it was raining on me (lightly however, not too much too complain about.) Had a tailwind most of the way home though, so that was nice. Made the ride with exactly 20mph average speed according to my Cateye.

Just rode in to work, had a great ride except fighting the dogs. One guy has like 5 dogs and there all mean and aggressive. I'm about to get real ugly with the guy and the situation. I can't even enjoy a nice ride without getting chased by dogs, makes me so mad.

That's a hazard to the community - cyclists, joggers, walkers, kids playing. They should be fenced or kept indoors. Write down all the details (address, incident times, dog breeds, etc.) and call your local police dept to file a complaint. Don't directly confront the owner.

Yep, one of our local police officers just stopped by our Firehouse and I was telling him about it. He actually knows the guy and the guy who owns the dogs is a retired 2 star general from the army. He told me to contact the police chief because she knows the guy very well and see if she can talk to the dog owner for me. If the guy doesn't do anything about it after me going about it the rite way I will have to take it to the next level. And the next level won't be good for the dogs. Guys I'm new to biking and I'm loving it but these dogs are making it a real pain in the ***.

Commuting to the office on a Sunday!, somethings just wrong with this picture. Anyway, a nice ride in with absolutely no traffic at all for a change. But the head wind was just a bear coming back home this afternoon. Nice temps around 38 or 40 F.
