28F/-2 & sunny this morning, no wind. I caught up to another commuter and let him pace me. Wasn't fast. 12-13MPH.
Got to work and our building's elevator was inoperative. Not a big deal, just have to haul the Soho up one flight of stairs. Annoying though.

About -3C/27F, no wind. Took it easy, then sprinted the last 1/2 mile to stay ahead of a bus I passed at a light. The 6" of snow forecast for this past weekend ended up being only 2", and it pretty much all melted right away anyway. Unpaved trails are still a mess, but are slowly getting better.

Ninja'd it this morning due to dead batteries. Kinda paranoid, but I survived.

Really nice, albeit short commute to the co-op to teach a class on British three speeds so of course I took my '54 Raleigh out for it's first spin of the season.

A beautiful morning ride, really perfect.
But on my mind are all of those injured and killed in Boston.

This morning was the best of rides, the worst of rides. The best: ideal temperatures in upper 50s, dry roads, no rain, no wind, fast pace. The worst: pollen so thick you could chew it and a fairly heavy fog that settled in about halfway to work. I'll take it though. It certainly beats bucking stiff headwinds or drizzle all the way to work.

Cool 3C with about 10kmh breeze, rained all night so roads were wet but it didn't rain on my commute. Decided to go for it and wore much lighter clothing because I was so hot going home last night: shorts without tights, short nylon socks not long wool ones, long sleeved jersey not insulating base layer and rainshell. I was perfectly fine once I got a couple of kms underway and was warmed up. In case it was going to be wet, I put a set of vinyl gloves (the ones used by custodial staff) over my full-fingered cycling gloves to keep my hands dry: didn't need the protection against water but it seemed to provide a little extra warmth, wind proof and all.
However, slowest commute ever: got a flat about 1/2 way so I had to replace the tube, I'll patch it tonight.

50F and wet, very fast ride because of no wind and I was trying to outrun a looming thunderstorm... didn't make it before the deluge but who cares when it's 50?!

Dark black clouds as I started out this morning, so I had the rain-gear/no rain-gear debate with myself as I left home. I voted no, and the weather gods smiled.
The first drops of rain came down just as I headed into the parking garage. By the time I got to the office, the streets were soaked, and I was dry.

Cloudy and low 50s. Actually left the house on time, for a change. I love the seeing the wildflowers and the trees blooming. Along one stretch of the Capital Crescent Trail, there are crabapples about to bloom - my favorite spring tree!

Very fast commute this morning with a 40-50 kmh tailwind. It started to rain just after I got to work. The ride home tonight will be harder but I'll see then.
A very comfortable 8 celcius, nice ride, as always

36F, foggy. Rode w/ my 11 yr old to his middle school. Got the opportunity to yell at him for darting in front of a car to cross a street and to yell at the moron driving the fog-colored car in the fog w/ no lights. I don't know if I saw the car (from behind my son) because I'm more used to it, or smarter, or what. But he does have an eye exam tomorrow.

-3C, calm, nice. Getting back into the groove of things. Since it's still quite cool these days, I've been doing that thing where you shower at home then ride easy to avoid sweating. But apparently, I'm incapable of taking it easy, so I still sweat. Back to showering after the ride, I guess.
No skinny tires for me yet. I tried an alternate route today to see if I could avoid ice and snow...nope. Still rocking the studded tires for now. I'm not sure it's possible to go through the river valley without encountering some ice and/or snow yet. I guess I could stay topside, but I much prefer the valley.

I took this yesterday (I had to drive), I rode today. They are talking more snow tomorrow. You have to be very careful what you say to people around here and be careful how you look at them. That being said, I rode one of my "summer" bikes for the first time this "spring" and it felt great.

The topside streets are in very nice shape save for the potholes... cannot ever remember them being this bad but the old Raleigh sails through these pretty nicely on it's 32's.

Heard on the news this morning that the city estimates that there are 600,000 potholes this year (100,000 of which have been filled so far). Apparently this is a new record. It's a slalom course out there. My 1.9" tires handle the small ones pretty well, but I try to avoid the large ones.

But not by much.
