No bike commute today, I have to leave work early because my older daughter as a kind of reward ceremony tonight at her highschool for students with good grade. I can't miss that!
I was on a perfect 7 weeks streak so I still feel guilty even if it's for a very good reason.

Felt like summer this morning with temps about 70 F and extremely high humidity. The wind was right out of the south with a stiff headwind all the way to work, so I just took it easy. No point fighting the wind when it's blowing like that. We have been in the same weather pattern since last Saturday, with high humidity and the threat of thunderstorms at any time. I got lucky yesterday because we had a strong storm pop up about an hour before I left work, but it had cleared up by the time I hit the road. Hopefully my luck will hold this afternoon as well.

Forgive me my friends, it has been 4 days since I've been on a bike. However, the saddle sore I had to suffer through on Sunday and Monday from Saturday's ride was penance enough. I wore an older pair of shorts on Saturday's 88km ride and the stitching on the side of the pad had let go and the frayed edge of the pad was scratching my butt near my left sit bone: I had a 7cm (3") long scab on Sunday morning. Shorts are gone!!!

This morning was damp from an overnight rain but mild. Streets were dry enough that I didn't get a streak of crud up my back. Rain forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow but Friday and the weekend look warmer and drier, which will be nice for the Cycle Canada Century I will be riding in.

My commute was wet. The weather has been terrible since Sunday. Cloud, rain and below seasonal temperatures. The weather is supposed to improve after today.

Not in Sudbury, a low of 3C tomorrow morning, high of 10C, low of 1C Friday morning, rain tomorrow. However, after the 1C start on Friday morning, the temps will be improving over the day and through the weekend.

Since this seems to be the thread for confessions and apologies... I felt sore in several joints, and a chill breeze was blowing. I set out and got about half a block and I was just dreading the next half hour. So I turned around and got the truck and went to Starbucks instead. Sorry guys.

No need for apologies. The bike commute should be fun. If it's not then it's not worth it IMHO.

I figure if I can commute 30 miles round trip a couple times a week, maybe I can lose some of this gut before our beach trip in August.

I was surprised to see another rider roll up to the rack today. I've literally not seen another bike there since the Georgia Bike to Work Day last year. He had a brand new yellow GMC Denali.

Temp was ~49º. Traffic was fairly light. Took a slightly different route today that shaved off about 1/4 mile, and put me on a bike trail for about a mile. This helped me avoid the worst part of my commute - Julian St. between 1st and Autumn in downtown San Jose.

Anyone ever done this? Yesterday when I got dressed after showering at work in the morning, I forgot to hang up my cycling clothes to dry. Usually my clothes will be completely dry by noon when hung up. When I got ready to leave in the afternoon, my clothes were still wadded up a pile and all wet. Nothing worse than having to wear stinky, damp cycling clothes. The only bright side is that the weather is so warm and humid that my clothes would have been wet within a few minutes anyway from sweating on the way home.

Haven't biked in two weeks, constant rain. There are supposedly 200 days with rain in a year here, but I was kind of hoping they wouldn't just be may till november...

A bit hot and humid, but overall a pleasant commute to and from work. Decided to take the coastal route so I can soak up some sun and cool off with the sea breeze.

Nice! I hope you get a swim every once in a while, I certainly would! No shower at work needed.

Is this your new bike? Blue and white, good match

We've been having storms every day since last Saturday, but they come and go. I've been taking my chances and riding to work, and got lucky again yesterday. A big thunderstorm hit about 5 minutes after I got home. Funny thing is that I didn't even notice it building because it came from behind me. Riding home the skies were mostly sunny and blue in the direction I was heading. However, I decided to drive today because a strong cold front is moving through and I'm not sure my luck would hold again. This is the same front that caused all of the tornadoes in the Midwest a few days ago, just arriving now in NC.

More humidity. Got a late start today.

Coming in from my run I noticed a car had been broken into in froint of my building, found the guy's work ID on the front seat, made some calls...turns out he lives a few doors down. Got his badge back to him and hit the road for the ride in...and hit every Red light there is!

Shouldn't I be getting all greens today for my good deed?
