Superbowl Friday commute in New Orleans (VIDEO)
Couldn't resist running the camera down Decatur street near Ground Zero for all of the 2013 Superbowl festivities on my way home today (Friday). Officially, this 3 1/2 minute video was part of my PM commute - so I am posting it here for my commuting brethren.
I am not defending my riding style. Legitimate questions will be happily addressed.
Enjoy

Music is from Blues Masters Volume 9 - Postmodern Blues. Song is on Track 6 and is called "Wonder Why" performed by Magic Slim and the Teardrops.

Nice!
Do the horses ever get spooked when you go by? They're probably not bothered by much with all the traffic down there, but with you being smaller and faster you're not like the other traffic they see.

Very interesting.
I don't think I could ride like that, but it was VERY cool to watch.
I like how many others I saw on bikes. Bicycle commuters are a rare anomaly around here.

I am with you. New Orleans does have a huge population of utilitarian cyclists. Whenever there is a big festival near the French Quarter i.e., the Superbowl or French Quarter Fest - every bike is in use. Traffic is sick, parking impossible, and mass transit gets overloaded easily.
My favorite scene during large festivals is to see EVERY object, fence, pole, signpost holding the maximum saturation of locked bikes.
