So? Move along then. Nothing (for you) to see here.

I don't know that I've ever seen such a pathetic and embarrassing admission before.

OMG I didn't know thats what I was doing when I ride to work. My bike is racked out handle bar bag aka igloo cooler bag and old school generator light with bar ends and fenders and long pump in my work cloths. I pass a DE ROSA and a LOOK The other riders wont even say good morning. Have fun communiting everone.

I have no problem with it posted here. I thought it was funny. I don't do tri's or wear skin suits or aero helmets or anything like that, but I do were Lycra bike shorts on my road bike, just because they're more comfortable. But I don't get offended or angry when someone passes me, because I know I'm slow as balls. Joey's video was still pretty entertaining, though.

I enjoyed your website, but... Pot, meet kettle? You are spending big bucks on a wheelset, but you insist on wearing clothes that flap around in the wind. Surely it is a 20 times better investment to wear a skin suit and ride on a sturdy but inexpensive wheel? At the speeds you are probably doing (near 40km/h?) you are pretty much guaranteed to gain 2km/h just from eliminating the drag.
Obviously it's your choice but I'd feel better if I passed them in lycra tights on my citybike than in thrift store clothes on my obviously very well-equipped vintage frame.

If he gets a thrill out of catching these guys, more power to him but they're out there training for fast 40 mile times (after swimming a 1/2 mile or more and before running about 15) which is entirely different from a 1 or 2 mile sprint.

Pretty thin reason to post these videos in the commuting forum since there is nothing about them related in any way to commuting. Don't you think the Road Cycling list or Foo is the more appropriate spot for your training fun videos? Or maybe those folks won't laugh at being mocked?
Another thing I have fun with is starting somewhere in south austin on a weekend morning, headed downtown. Hop on our main n/s bike route and see how many weekend roadie warriors I can pass on a 5 or 6 mile run into downtown, rolling but mostly downhill, and usually on my converted mtn bike w/ panniers and fully decked out for commuting. Fun sport as well. Similar technique to Joey's description, in part. I pedal like all get out on the uphills and particularly the downhills, where others are inclined to rest. Extra mass of my bike and the big apples really help on the downhills and carrying my momentum through some of the rolling hills. Breathe a bit on the flats. Some of the looks and comments are priceless.
Lots of fun. Thanks for sharing the vid.

I find fellow commuters enjoy watching a commuting Fred dust some geeks. See above posts for evidence. I don't think Triathletes would take it the same way. If any wander in here (unlikely) then they are looking for trouble and on their own.
So? Move along then. Nothing (for you) to see here.

If entertaining your "family" here is the purpose of your posts, why not post pictures and videos of playful kittens, scantily clad (but tastefully posed) women, and videos of Mardi Gras festivities? Might be something for me to see then and it would be just as related to bicycle commuting since it would "entertain" your commuter "family."
Maybe I'm misinterpreting many of your posts, but you come across as angry and spiteful, lying in wait with answers to posts that don't sit right in your craw.
Keep on riding and relax a little.

You know... it takes all kinds. I'm just glad there are people out there - just like the triathletes posted in your video - that are trying to make a difference in their lives, instead of plopping on the couch and staring at the television.
I've gone from recreational cyclist, to triathlete, to training with a cycling team & racing, to commuting, and everything in between, in all my years of using bicycles. Out of all of the bicycle 'activities' I have done, commuting has by far the most snobbery.
FYI - cherry picking is easy. There are "geeks" as you phrase it, in my area, that could out-ride 99% of riders in my area, from cyclists training to race, to other triathletes that are out to keep themselves healthy, and to the snobby commuters that have a hard time saying "good morning". It really does take all kinds... and it makes me happy to see all of them outside and enjoying life in a different way than most will ever understand.

I hate training. So I trick myself into getting out there with a game. I pass someone, I get one point. Someone passes me I lose 10 points - unless I can overtake that rider before the turnaround or he/she turns off the course. I just take greater pleasure blasting past someone resting on their elbows.
I ride with a few guys who enter races and occasionally place high enough to take home some cool (expensive) prizes. No one is sponsored. Weekend warriors. I have no trouble hanging with them on training rides. I won't be beating them in any races. So I already know that outcome. Therefore I just hit the training routes and try to pass as many riders as I can while keeping them from passing me. Way easier than entering a race. I can jump out there on a whim after work.

While Joey calls it scalping, its more like punked. I don't pretend to understand why Joey does it - but I see it in the same category as the hidden camera shows. Its just entertainment, nothing more. For those who found the video and site funny, here is another one:
Joey - we need better videos.

Lakeshore drive is the best for me. 5 miles one way.
Mississippi River Trail (MRT) is 20+ miles each way and well populated with cyclists too. The distance gives the geeks a better chance to re-pass me. Eventually.

No offense to the OP, but is this really that important to you, or is the whole thing meant to poke fun at wannabe racers (including yourself)?

Now and then a true sponsored rider blows me off the road while looking like they aren't even trying. I can't do 30+ mph for more than a few seconds without a fierce tailwind. So those who can will kill me every time. Luckily not many of them hang around the Lakefront. And the short 5-mile course does not give a fast rider enough time to catch up from behind. I almost never get passed at the Lakefront unless I am letting someone go by so they enter the camera field of view. This is how the guy who flatted in the vid got past me - I waited on him so I could make a video.
