Crosscheck on sale at REI - 976.59

That's a pretty good deal on a new Crosscheck. It can only be sent to an REI store, so you're out of luck if you don't live near one.

There area also a couple of other decent bikes on sale if you're in the market.

I think I just decided on my new bike. Was debating a KHS for about $750 but I was leaning toward CC for $1150. At this price I can't not buy it!

So of course, I haven't been able to find a CC in stock at the local REI or anywhere else. Everyplace I've tried locally would need to order it. Does anyone have a suggestion on what size I should get? I'm 5' 10" and when I measure the ground to my crotch with shoes it's about 32". I'm currently riding a cheap single speed road bike that is a 57" and the top tube comes right up to my crotch. I'm thinking 54" Surly would be right?

I'm jonesing for one myself; however, cash is a little tight and my plan is to just pick up a frame then convert my '07 Sirrus DBC with it. My experiment with modern aluminum frames is done and I want to convert to a steel frame. Plus I'm digging this year's Hospital Foam Green color which pops in low light better than red.

I'm tempted by the novara randonee at $1019; I think they will ship their brand bikes to you.

CX usually run 1 size smaller than you road. So if you ride 54cm road get a 53cm Crosscheck

I am 5'11 1/2" with a 32" inseam and I ride two 54 cm cyclocross bikes with 55.4cm and 53.7cm top tubes. So I think a ~53-54 cm could very much fit you, though trying it would be best. REI will let you return it if it doesn't fit I think.

Their biking clothing here in CO is 20-25% off due to their anniversary celebration.

The effective top tube measurement on the Cross Check is 57cm.

I hope you like it -- I got here too late to tell you that I'm 6ft with a 32in inseam (that's pants, not "cycling inseam"), and I'm very happy with my 60" so I thought you should bump all the way up to 58. But then again I subscribe to the GP/riv school of bike sizing, which aims for higher bars, and "just a fistful" of seatpost. In any case, you got a good deal! At that price I almost want to order one just so I can add $100 and resell it as new!

This bike appears to be the exact same frame as a Crosscheck:

I got one of these bikes last year and I have been happy with it.
