I can pedal with one foot now!

Only clipless users will understand... :D.

I switched to clipless yesterday for a whopping price of zero dollars. My bike co-op gets boxes left outside the shop and those parts are free for volunteers. They are Specialied cleats with Shimano PD-M535 pedals.

Amputees do it.

I have been doing this for a long time.

Killing yourself riding in traffic? ;) Or equipping your bicycle with freebie components?

Riding with one leg... one of the pistons does not fire properly and without clipless pedals my left foot won't stay in place.

That's nothing new..Old-time track racers used to do it, with toe clips and straps.
No need for clipless pedals.

Last summer, I sprained my ankle at work...for a few weeks, I had to ride using just one foot for power, with the other just resting on the pedal. Did it with platform pedals, no problem.

Well I don't do it in traffic, of course. If I sprained my ankle like the poster above, then I'd do it on the streets. And even then I'd ride on the sidewalk if I had an injury.

That happened to me too, 5 years ago when I first started. Right knee, not ankle, and being car-free and stubborn I used the left leg only for power, for several months. My left is still stronger and bulkier which is kind of weird sometimes ... and tempts me to replicate it with the right leg. Without the injury of course.

Earlier this year, I broke a drive side crank arm going up a hill. Even with toe clips, I had difficulty spinning the crank with one leg. I think part of it was not knowing what to do with my other foot, which kept looking for a foot hold on the crank stump.

I had a knee go out on a long ride. Last 20 miles I only pedalled with one leg. Turns out that is not ideal, but I guess you can adapt. I knew someone that rode across the country that way.

Wonderful skill.......Maybe tie 1 arm behind your back and wear an eye patch.....

Who knows where this could lead with enough practice....:)

I frequently coast downhill using only one leg.
