I have used SKS fenders on multiple bikes and they all have been great. They have outstanding customer service which another reason why i stick with them.

IME the longboard has a better mudflap, the Cascadia has better attachment hardware. (awaiting the ire of SKS hardware fans)

I have a set of each.
The PB Cascadias were easier to install and never failed. I transferred them to another bike after the original got totaled by a Jeep driver on her cell phone.
When I got my new bike, I went with SKS Longboards. I like the coverage better, and like the aesthetics.
However, after about six months, the front section of the front fender broke off right at the brake connection for no apparent reason. SKS promptly sent me a new set, and I have had no problems with the replacement.
As for installation of the Longboards, Google it. I followed the Rivendell video, and it really helped.

PB is polycarbonate , injection Molded. SKS is a Thermoplastic with an aluminum core .

My Koga came with some grommets to use the 2 strips in the mudguard to Power a taillight.

the clear stripes in the center are insulators between the strips.

I've heard lots of folks say how much better constructed the SKS's are compared to PB's. I had the rear portion of an SKS break off on my first commuter. I got rear ended during bike polo by another rider in 30deg weather on my Safari. He folded the rear PB fender up under the rack. I popped it back in place,and it's still on the bike many years/k miles later. Have bent the struts back a couple times too,but no failures. And this is my rain/winter bike.

I've also heard from many folks how important it is to have the SKS safety releases. But I've never gotten anything stuck in my wheel. Twice I've mounted SKS's and had to leave the releases off because the shape of the fork or disc brake got in the way. Also note,I can't think of a single bike that comes stock with fenders that have those releases.

Those safety releases have come in very handy for me at least once. I was riding my fendered 'cross bike on a muddy trail and hit a spot of really thick gloppy stuff. It coated my wheels and deposited itself on the inside of my fenders, effectively immobilizing the bike. After I dismounted, I scraped the mud out from under the brake bridge, popped out the safety releases and rode on, with the fender rattling like mad, but at least the wheel was able to turn.

I've never had an actual safety related release though.

Cascadias have the safety releases on the front fenders as well.

Anyone use the Cascadia's on a 700x40c? I see the SKS P50 fits them, but I don't see a PB model that fits that large of a tire...

If memory serves, there's a 29er model that should clear something of that size.

I use PB Hardcores 45, on a 40 Schwalbe Supreme. Just make sure you mount it high enuf for clearance. Looks nice and compact, and works well.
