Which set of tires should I run on my commuter?

I have been using the stock tires that came with my Cross Check which are 700x32 Ritchey Speedmax Comp. I really have no problem with these tires. I just did a quick 10 mile ride before work with some coworkers a few days ago and I had no problem keeping up or even setting the pace with my bike while everyone else had more expensive road bikes with 700x23 road tires. But I have not taken the bike off road with the exception of a few short hard pack dirt and gravel trails. I may eventually want to test it off road but it will probably be on paved roads 95% of the time. I have a set of CST Sensamo Firenze tires that have less than 100 miles on them. They are 700x38 grooved slicks with reflective side wall and supposedly more puncture resistant

I think they are comparable in price and quality. If you were me, would swap over the CST tires this weekend?

Swap one and try it. You can decide if you want to swap the other or go back to what you had.

Ahh, good thinking. I have have a lot of experience swapping tires on my single speed but I've never had to take the rear wheel off of a geared bike so that will be a learning experience. I will swap the front first and see if I like it before tackling the rear

Just shift the chain onto the smallest rear cog before removing the rear wheel.

Personally if I have two tires of different widths I but the wider one in front.

I ended up putting the CST 700x38 on the front and rear and had my first commute with them today. They make the bike noticeably more heavy, but I'm commuting not racing so no worries there. I love the feeling of the extra wide tires. There is one section of my commute where they have been doing road work for weeks and the pavement is all chewed up so it's like riding over tree branches for about 20 yards and I roll right over like it was nothing. The added bonus is the reflective sidewalls which you can see in the attached photo I took with a flash
