Suggestions for front rack Kona Rove

I decided I wanted some gears (previously rode a fixed Langster) and recently picked up the Kona Rove. None of the LBS have front racks that work with what I'm hoping to use the bike for. I would prefer a setup that doesn't hang off of the handbars for additional support. Keeping the weight as close to the wheel as possible is ideal.

I like the idea of the front rack being able to have larger items strapped atop e.g. small boxes, or even a smaller basket—so a flat surface on top is must.

The Rove has mounts at the crown of the fork as well has mid-fork. There are no eyelets towards the front of the axle. The bike does have disc brakes.

Any suggestions for a front rack?

I have one of Paul's Flat bed front racks.. the lower support is the fork tip eyelet, the one behind the axle .
the upper support is in the spacer stack above the upper headset race.

Mine is on a 1" threaded Headset bike , so the upper support clamps around the stem. via included shims..

of course if you seek out a custom rack, to be made, it will be what you ask it to be.

That's one that I haven't seen yet. You wouldn't by chance have front disc brakes would you? Most of these setups that I have seen are on bikes with traditional brakes. Accessing the lower support could be an issue with this particular rack.

buying a long bolt say using a high strength steel one from the auto parts supplier ,

in 8.8 ( marked ) high strength alloy steel and a spacer will add clearance, for the caliper .
should take care of the disc clearance ..

Pauls seems pretty flexible mounting ..

steel fork can always be modified to add missing mounting points , then re painted.

CETMA is a One Man shop Making racks , he has flexibility .
so one that uses the center hole in the fork crown and the 2 low rider mounts, Mid fork, is a possibility
to not come near the Disc at all ..

https://cetmacargo.com/

this one goes down to the axle , you can always substitute a solid nutted axle
on any front hub with standard threading , long enough to stick out further ..

a nut to hold the wheel in the fork and a second one to hold that rack tip on the axle.

Velo Orange has several front racks that might work:

I use a Gamoh porteur front rack, though without disc brakes. I am pretty sue it will not hit the brake. Do a google image search and you will see the setup you are describing. Plus it comes with brackets to act as top or bottom fork braze ons.

The other route you could go is a Nitto Mark's rack from Rivendell. It is a small rack but you can zip tie a Wald basket on it. This the setup I am ging to use for my wife's Rivendell. There are plenty of images with this setup on the Riv site.
