What do you do when the car squeezing you off the road is a police car?

Riding to work today I got passed very closely and nearly squeezed into the row of parallel parked cars. So then I look over to see who this jerk is and it was an LAPD cruiser. Not lights and sirens blaring in pursuit, just two very chatty looking officers who were probably paying more attention to their conversation then the road. I couldn't help but laugh at the iron of their "Watch The Road" bumper sticker.

Yikes!
You can try emailing the LAPD bike liason. That's worked for some people in the past.
The new bike liaisons are:
Central Traffic Division: Sgt. Laszlo Sandor 30124@lapd.lacity.org 213-972-1853
Valley Traffic Division: Sgt. Steve Egan 26860@lapd.lacity.org 818-644-8146
West Traffic Division: Sgt. Christopher Kunz 26315@lapd.lacity.org 213-473-0215
South Traffic Division: Sgt. Jon Aufdemberg 31630@lapd.lacity.org 213-421-2588
If you run a cam, you can post the video. That usually gets a bit more response.

Thanks. I don't have a cam but I got some cell phone pictures of them at the light. Of course that doesn't show their driving so I'm sure it will only go so far with the complaint

I would be thankful I had a GoPro, or be cursing because I don't.

I now consider riding with front and rear cams as extremely useful, even though no incidents have occurred, the videos themselves are still useful in archiving the sights on one's commute. The urban landscape on my various commute routes has changed considerably since I first started videoing my commutes.

Thanks guys, I sent an email to the liason. I actually have a very old SD GoPro collecting dust. The videos aren't great looking but I will probably hook it up to keep a video document

Ask their bike liaison how do they expect the citizen would obey the law if the cops don't uphold it.
It was like the tailgating cop that kept trying to push me go faster than the limit. I called him up, gave them the plate and ask them how do they expect me to keep the speed limit and drive defensively when a cop is basically trying to push me to drive faster than the limit.

The other day, I saw a couple of cops on bikes riding in a crosswalk. A minor infraction, sure, but amusing to see.

I got yelled at by a guy who said he was a cop last year after taking the lane to keep him from violating the three feet to pass law (and speeding too). He was kind of irate about how I kept him from making me safer as he put it, and by the time I noticed he was wearing a pistol on his belt I'd cooled down enough to realize the discussion wasn't going to change anything for the better. And that arguing with someone paranoid enough to carry a gun like that wasn't going to end well, and chalked it up to yet another case of the laws not being enforced for the benefit of the public. He ended the discussion when he showed his continued respect for the laws he's supposedly paid to enforce when he made an illegal turn and drove away.

I'd contact one of the bike liaisons like was mentioned above and find out who their watch commander is. Or go into the station in that area you are in and talk to the watch commander. You can talk to them about it. I've had good luck when I filed a formal complaint against an officer that almost doored me and then gave me attitude when I kindly advised them they need to be careful when opening the door. It helped that I had helmet camera footage of the whole incident.
I saw that your situation was resolved. Always glad to hear that our police are getting more education and training in dealing with cyclists.
