The 80's gave us Huey Lewis and the News, but they also gave us the Dead Kennedys. Unfortunately, your graphics are more in line with the Huey Lewis part of the legacy. I mention this just because as a child of the 80's I'm offended to be associated with those graphics.

For a second there I wasn't sure if that was a front fender or if part of your tire was plastic.

I have to give you a slight deduction for sticking with cantilevers when you could easily move to V-brakes.

I'd rate it as mildly hot.

This one's a RockHopper, right? I only question it because that's the least ugly paint I've ever seen on a RockHopper of that era.

The double wheel rear reflectors are a nice touch. The chain looks like it could stand to lose a few links though. The wet tires emphasize the lack of fenders in a bad way.

I can't decide if the camera angle and NDS staging hurt the bike or hide its flaws. Probably the latter. I'm going to have to say "not" on this one.

I'd say old "green wheel" is a hot now. Nice job on the picture.

Maybe not, but even if it did, no graphics can make up for having the front skewer on the wrong side.

Cool that you put miles on it though. Bonus points for that.

It might be helpful to estimate how many miles posted bikes get in a year. I would be willing to forgive quite a bit for one that gets a thousand miles a year or better.

This one. Hot. The funky angle mismatch between the rear rack and fender struts is somewhat cleverly disguised here and the saddle is jammed neither forward nor back.

I like this one the most.
fender adjustment on the Norco keeps it from being hot, too. and i like the look of the trek slightly more.

hot, for me - because i'm counting the remaining days of me drooling until i get my own CC. I dig the fork mounted light, too.
just out of sheer curiosity, what size frame is that and how tall are you?

Frame is 56. I am 5'10 1/2. I originally got a 54 based on a lot of suggestions but I felt too cramped so I went with the 56. I'm 36, back isn't as good as it used to be and I just got back into cycling a year ago after a long lay off and this was my first drop bar bike. So basically that all adds to up 56 being the more comfortable fit for me while someone else with my same body proportions might be fine on a 54

i thought i would post this before i rebuild this bike as a winter commuter.... obviously with a repaint, unless someone can somehow talk me out of painting it?

i do like the wheel gap on the front fork though...



do any of you think i could fit a 2.50 wide tire in there?

Haha! That is totally the cousin of my Sekai Mountaineer posted up-thread, same era and everything. In fact, the graphics look like they might be the same, yours are green where mine are pink though. They were being made at the same factory side-by-side. In fact, Norco and Sekai didn't even both to rename the Mountaineer, it was sold with the same model name and just different brand names on it. It looks like your Bigfoot even has the same big lug at the seatpost that my '91 Mountaineer has.

I think if you just measure the distance between the inside of the forks and give just a bit of room for distortion/squish/cornering you'll know how wide of a tire you can fit. I actually commuted on mine for a few months and the super low end cantis were useless. The cheap Nashbar cantilever brakes I replaced them with are actually really good.

It's totally tripping me out that they copied GT's triple triangle design with that one. I've never seen that before, thanks for sharing!

Strangely, I'd give it a "hot" rating as is! Repainted, with fenders and slicks, it'd be really hot, especially as unusual as it is. Goo gone didn't help with removing the decals on mine, despite the fact you can see the edges of them.

that is awesome that you see the same in this bike that i do, i got it on the classifieds for $10, but the only reason i went with it was because of the rear triangle emulating that of a GT triple triangle. That and the fork is strangely modern in design in comparison to other rigid fork mountain bikes, modern in the sense of its taper and overall size.

I have a soft spot for old school, rigid mountain bikes. I'm digging the fork style seat stays. Solid, reliable looking bike. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "hot," but I like it.
