I've got one. It's pretty stout for being so light. I've strapped down a loaded Playmate-type cooler on it.
Although it's not for panniers, I've figured out a way to hang two small insulated bags on it for carrying food when light touring.
For commuting, it's a good place to strap down a jacket or sweater when you warm up -- without having to get off the bike or twist yourself silly.

Light load in a bag/box, sitting on it , 3 point minimum..
requires a bolt fitting to the fork at the top, for support,
+ the 2 on the end of the V/cantilever brake bosses..

I have the Nitto version of this sort of rack. It works fine for small loads and non-bulky items. It is very sturdy, but heavier items affect handling and bulky items make it hard to see the front wheel and/or potholes. Thus, I don't use the rack much but keep it on my touring bike for special situations, like carrying a small package to the post office and mounting a headlight.

I have one of them mounted on my Xtracycle, as part of my kludged together front rack setup. I used to use it to carry the battery for my e-assist motor.
I wouldn't put much weight on it, on its own. Mine is clamped to the over wheel hoop of my lowrider front rack, so it will take a little more weight.

Not sure - its a picture from Google.
There are several listed on eBay- all from China and quite likely the same factory. Most of the listings have the same spec/dimensions.
Looks similar to the Nitto chrome ones, at a fraction of the price. Doubt the workmanship is great, but it wouldn't be used for anything heavy, or continuously.

I used to have a very similar (if not exactly the same) front rack made by Blackburn. I should have kept it but sold it during a moment of "I'll never need this again." Stupid, I know now . . . I should have kept it.

Check out this guy, he mounted a rack like that (from Nashbar) on the back of his bike, and used it for DIY "baby" panniers.
I like the idea of a canti-stud mount, but I don't think I could manage it (front or rear) due to my canti brake cable being right where the third mounting bolt would need to go. I'd need to rig up something with p-clamps to the fork or stays

I have a rack like that I got from Nashbar, along with a compatible 1 piece pannier set which I believe has a small centre compartment on top as well (my stash of bike parts & accessories isn't here in Switzerland with me, making verification of such details difficult). I haven't mounted the rack yet; the bike in question doesn't have canti studs but I'm planning to use P-clamps around the forks instead, which I've scoped out and I believe will work.

Nashbar makes one - I got mine for $9 on sale. Not using it though - didn't like how it looked on my bike (though I think front racks like this do look good on some bikes). I didn't need to extra storage, so I decided to let appearances matter for a change

Mine looks identical to the one pictured and is made by Sunlite. It's rated for 40 lbs. Mounts to the caliper bosses and with a metal strap to the fork. I had a hard time leveling mine, so I drilled some extra holes in the strap.

Looks like good reviews and plenty of extra capacity for commuting, since one doesn't want too much weight above the front wheel. For touring I'd definitely use a low rider to keep the weight lower and evenly distributed.

Blackburn made a front rack for mountain bikes. https://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-rack-ec007524
They also have a rear rack for mountain bikes. https://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-rack-ec005642
Those using 700c tyres will find that the rear rack will have clearence issues. You will need their racks that are higher.

On two of my tourers, I dumped a Surley Nice for one of these. They are light, cheap and simply work, either rigid or sus fork.. The Riv little trunksack https://www.rivbike.com/product-p/bastss.htm is a perfect fit if you don't mind that C&V thing. They handle a bigger bag fine, sideways, but you have to be clever to get a secure fix. In Homer moments I have gone over big bumps and had full size bags that weren't secured very well lurch sideways, but no real drama.

I have one on both bikes. It will hold a 12 pack. I can strap a pizza box on it also. I spray painted mine to match the color scheme on the bikes. For under ten bucks, you can't beat it.
