Converting CAAD X Crossbike to Commuting.
Hey folks, last year I started commuting to work on my CaadX, I used a rear rack and a trunk bag by Arkle. THis year I thought I would be clever and purchase a set or rear Panniers to allow me to carry my clothing daily so I ordered a bug from Arkle. Well, its a beautiful bag however in it current configuration it is in the way of my pedal stroke. What are some options that would solve this issue? I do not mund sending this one back and getting a shorter bag, changing the rear rack, or other modifications... Just not the bike. Anyway, thank you to the collective brains of the group
A little info on the commute. I am a high school teacher, I need to be able to carry a laptop some days, I will leave shoes at work but will need to carry a pair of pants and a shirt + lunch. My commute is 15 miles one way in the rolling countryside.

These two images show the lack of clearance. The dimensions of this bag are: 18inches by 12inches. I did look at their switchback 2 and the dimensions there are 15 X 10. While I have been riding road bikes for a while, the geometry of racks and bags is a new one for me. Thanks

The first two seem to mount high and the second link has a slanted front to facilitate clearance. I was planning on going with arkel as I have used their products in the past and like the build quality.

what kind of rack is on there? to me it looks really short? but it could just be the angle of the picture. if you had a longer rack you could set the pannier back farther. that's also a massive pannier it seems.
the ones you posted seem just as large and especially the messenger bag looks like it might still be in the way of your pedal stroke. but, the one you currently have hangs down a lot. perhaps the messenger bag wouldn't hang down as far and be ok - hard to say from just pictures.
both my wife and i have the topeak mtx rack system. i use the topeak trunk/panniers combo, but she has a regular pannier that's similar to an ortlieb. it hangs perfect for her and she fits her 13" mac pro in it with room for everything else. the company is defunct, but its basically this: https://hyaliteequipment.com/bike-gea...l-pannier-bike
topeak makes some briefcase type bags that clip in nicely to their system. check out their website.

The rack is simply one that I picked up at the local bike shop, nothing special but it fit my trunk bag. I will look into the other ones you listed. This is getting far more complicated than I thought it would be.

Also does all the Cannondale Caadx lineup have rear eyelets to mount a rack? The pictures for the 2013 models don't seem to show any, but they are fairly low resolution anyway.
