I do, though now that my office is near Penn Station, I keep a bike at the station in NJ and ride this one only in the summer, which ended today. It's about three years old, and has 7650 miles on it.

It can be done and is a nice option (as I'm sure you are aware).

i have a 2007 Dahon Speed P8. i don't commute on it often, but it happens from time to time when i have commitments to go to after work that i don't want to street lock one of my regular bikes for.

Me too except mine is a 2009 Dahon Speed P8 (sorry, no pic, but it's just like the one above except it's black). Like Donald Fagen, I don't use it a lot, but it comes in handy for multimode travel.

I do sometimes on my Dahon TR24 no longer made. :-( If I could only have one bike that would be the one.

A Brompton is just about perfect for my city riding, to work, and almost everywhere else. Maybe less so for 50 mile tours, but I do them too.

My wife rides her Dahon TR24 to work.

She's a school teacher, sometimes one of her kids will see it folded under the desk and ask "is it broken"?

I use my Paratrooper with road tires for my 18 mile commute almost daily (mainly one way but increasingly round trip.)

I was curious if others than myself commutes with a folder. When I ride mine in Philadelphia people turn their heads to look at my bike (a few brave souls ask "what kind of bike is that?". I am on the Folder forum, but I see few threads about commuting. I have a cheap Value Edition Green Zone which I got new for $ 200 and I could not be happier. I even took it on a short tour in Canada. John

Not a folder, but most people confuse it with one when they first see it. I picked up a mini velo (Mercier Nano) at the intro price when bikesdirect came out with them a couple years ago. I think it was around $250 at that time and seemed like too much fun to pass up trying as my first small wheel bike. I have commuted on it quite a bit and have taken it on a couple <500 mile credit card tours.

It handles it all just fine and is a blast to ride, particularly when unladen with my usual panniers. When I do my daily commute to work, most of the time I will ride one of my larger wheel commuters though. The 20" wheels seem to take a little more effort to maintain my usual speed. I just replaced the stock tires with Schwalbe Kojaks and they seem to roll faster, so it may make its way into my rotation a little more frequently. As it is, it often gets grabbed for shorter trips than my usual commute.
