Giant OCR touring for commuter?
Anyone think this is a good deal? I can get 20% off a giant ocr touring. With the wide tires and disc brakes, it seems to handle the potholes in the city pretty good as well as be able to handle a few curbs.
I was thinking of getting a flat bar road bike but having drops would be nice on those 1-2 mile long stretches in the city where there isn't much traffic.

I don't see why not. My commute is almost 10 miles one way, and I use a Trek 1000 road bike.

Those are really nice bikes, in my opinion, and if you ever go touring, it's kind of a no-brainer. It's not MY money, but I would take it over a flat bar roadie. Check out Giants FCR line, too. They just put it on their website, flat bars, cantilevers, SRAM, etc.

I think you'll be happy with the Giant. If it fits and the price is right, go for it.

I was thinking of a cross bike but I wanted disc brakes. And most cross bikes with disc brakes are meuy expensivo.

I've only seen one Giant Touring bike with the disc brakes, but it looked perfect for commuting. It has longer chainstays so you'd have more foot clearance for panniers.
