I do, sort of. I live on Church Street in Burlington, but work in Plattsburgh. So, I currently drive to the Cumberland Head ferry, cross the lake, and ride the last 8 miles to work on my bike. When the weather gets warm, however, I am determined to ride my bike the whole distance.

A car/ferry/bike commute! Original. I don't see why you couldn't ride all the way to the ferry when conditions improve. If they ever get something going regularly across the Causeway Cut, you could ride the trail to South Hero!

I live in Colchester and commute to Burlington (College St.) on the bike path, thanks to the new bridge they built across the Winooski River. Haven't been riding to work lately though. The trail is snowed-in. Instead, I walk 2.5 miles (one way) to the North Ave bus. Slow, but healthy anyway. Can't wait to start riding again.

Incidentally, the city has agreed to look further into plowing the trail. Won't happen this season, but perhaps next.

You probably heard this already. Plattsburgh is building a connector route from Route 9 to the Cumberland Head ferry. With a bike path along side. Even if they don't plow the bike path it should easy going on the old route with out all the big trucks running to get to the ferry first. Time of completions late 2006.

I envy you the beautiful ride to work. That bike path and bridge are really nice. Unfortunately, my ride to the ferry will likely be through the heart of Burlington, then down a stinky, noisy highway. wish I could ride your way.

I DID hear about that! I'm psyched! Hope they do a nice job with the bike path. I'm skeptical, though, because I bet it will be filled with joggers, peds, and dogs and will be useless for a high speed commute. None the less, it will take the heavy traffic off the existing roads, which will be nice.

Church Street!? I hate you! Maybe it's only cause I don't live in the area, but I would loooove to live on Church St. in Burlington.

Nah, I don't commute in Burlington, but only cause of a near last-minute decision not to attend school in the area... I just had to express my envy!

It won't look like the Burlington's Lake front bike path. We just don't have the same population. I have used the Burlington bike path on weekends during summer and I was saying to myself this is crazy! I just got off and road King street back down then up Church street.(I think?) Then over to nice café next to the burlington square mall.

I'm with you on taking the Cumberlandhead road it's along the lake with views of the Adirondacks and The Green mountains. So beautiful! I think this route will become a favorite among cyclist.

Last summer, fall, and a bit into winter, I commuted from Richmond to Burlington. I had to cut it off about the second week of December because I got a little frost bite on my toes. I am about to start up again though, it is staying above freezing a few days a week lately, and it will only get warmer from here on out, so I am looking forward to getting back on the bike.

I'd love a trail border crossing, and a place to get a big bowl of poutine nearby. Somehow I don't think the ride would make up for the calorie intake.

Last night I thought we might start seeing the trail opening up, but then of course it froze solid over night. The bike bridge is clear on either edge but a sheet of ice down the middle.

Spring is coming... Slowly...
