    Road bike for commute

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade from a cheapo fixed gear bike to a actual road bike. Now I am a short person (5`3 height and 28/29 inseam), so its really hard for me to find a quality and durable bike.

Budget: $2,000 (Willing to add a few, if its really worth it.)
    Height 5`3, 28/29 inseam
    Prefer 700cc

    Thanks!

A 26 inch wheel bike makes a lot of sense in a smaller frame. The Surly Long Haul Trucker would make a fine commuter and it comes in small sizes with 26 inch wheels (and it comfortably fits your budget).

...but if you want a roadbike, then you're in luck. All of the major players make very nice 48 - 50cm road bikes (which is where I imagine you'd fit) and the 2013's are on sale at the moment. There are some very nice options in the sub-2k group. My wife, at 5'3", loves her Jamis Xenith Comp (full carbon, Shimano 105, etc). There are almost too many options to list here.

IMO, the best commuter for you would be the Surly Troll. However, if you must have a road bike, then get the Jamis Quest Elite with interrupter brakes
