Lights On Hubs
I have started doing something that I think is kind of handy. I have a few Bontrager Glo/Ember blinky LED lights, like this
https://bontrager.com/model/11364
They are the emergency last line backup lights in case my other lights fail or get stolen or something. But normally they don't do anything but sit in the saddlebag.
On a whim, I wrapped the white Glo around my front hub, the red Ember around my rear hub. As I ride, they revolve kind of like old-style emergency vehicle beacon lights. They are not visible from exactly behind or exactly ahead of my bike, or directly from the side. But at any other angle, they are quite attention-getting. Pedestrians actually gawpe as I ride by, so I figure drivers must notice as well.
Yeah, spoke lights would be better. But this at least puts the blinkies to some good use.
