As others have noted, the quality of your posts matters more than the quantity.

Some of us only commute during certain seasons and spend the rest of the year doing it vicariously on the backs of those of you who are real year-round warriors. To feel like I'm more a part of the bike commuting community, during my "off-season," I will often start silly, stupid threads that I sometimes later regret. As a result, I've got bazillions of posts, but only a few that I think made any kind of difference to anybody.

Boy, I thought I was the lurker of the decade. You're 4 times the lurker I am! 1.5hr commute each way. 3hr per day in the saddle.

All this time off over the holidays is really putting a dent in my lurker credentials!

When I encounter a “serious”-looking cyclist on the road and we have a chance to chat, I often try to introduce that person to Bike Forums. Sometimes I get a snooty reply like, “Well, I would rather be riding my bike than be posting about it.” to which I reply, “Well, I post about riding my bike while at work and can’t be riding it.”
