Warm?! That is down right hot!

To be honest I will not bike if the roads are icy. Being sallies in Vancovuer it so infrequently gets real winter that I can not justify studs. Plus drivers are bad enough in the sun and rain; I try to avoid all roads if it snows.

I wish that my winds would stay in one direction. Being so close to the ocean it seems they are one way in the morning and another in the afternoon. But I did get a nice headwind Friday!

It gave me a few trophies with the tail wind. It also helped I was on the race bike since my commuter was waiting for surgery.

It had no fenders and it was pouring. Boy it made me appreciate my fenders, I had not worn my shoe covers (stepped in dog crap and wanted the rain to wash it off) so the wet foot was compounded.

This was a nice commute this morning. I was running late for some reason. I have to check my front derailleur after my wreck. My new chain was rubbing and I think that my foot may have knocked it slightly out of alignment when I went down. But it has a new right lever and new bar tape and was great for the ride.

I replaced my Tiagra 4500 with a Sora 3500 and I do not know if it is the clean new (take off) lever or trickle down improvements but I like this new lever.

I replaced my bar tape with MEC Microfiber Bar Tape w/Gel - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available . I have never wrapped my own bars and expected a slight challenge. But I did about six re-wraps on this stuff until I got it right. The second side went far better. I went to the site for tip or tricks on it and the reviews mentioned the pain it was to wrap and out of four reviews they were not particularly glowing. But I got it on and it looks nice; other than one wonky piece at the bar end on the left which I did not find until I put the plug in an was not willing to wrap again.

I had my best climbing time this morning ever, I'm sure largely due to the century this past Saturday. I felt much stronger, more than a few Personal Records this morning on Strava.

That's what I was hoping for!!!

Don't worry, when the roads aren't clear of snow I won't risk it and take the car too.

Weird weather this morning, it was 55 when I woke up at 5 AM and then 49 when I left the house at 6:20. West winds 15 MPH gusting to 25 made for some hard segments where I was heading west. Luckily my commute is mostly south. I was dressed perfectly, too, which was nice.

I tried one of the alternate routes that will become permanent when this one road/bridge on my morning route closes for good, and it was NOT a good route. Good bit out of the way and an additional big hill to deal with. I tried a different way last Thursday morning which also wasn't good. So I'll try the 3rd and final alternate route later this week, which I think is going to end up being my choice.

Warm for me too this morning and almost 23°C now, making me wish I was outside riding. I took the cold/rain bike although it was too hot on it, but I wanted to check it out before the next rain that I expect on Wednesday. With standing water all over I just took it slow and easy.

Someone laughed the other day at my pedal stroke when I went through 6"-10" water. I just lever the pedal up and down, just far enough that I don't dunk my feet depending on how deep the water is. Looks funny I guess but my feet are dry. It got me to wondering, am I the only one who does this?

I have been known to do similar things. But if I am faced with that sort of water level on my commute it is likely only a drop in the bucket and I tend not to worry too much.

I get it frequently since it takes a day or more to drain off after a big rain. I'll misjudge it sometimes and get in over a foot deep, which will soak your feet regardless but even then I prefer not to do it again. I'm finicky that way.

Got pretty soaked on the way home. Traffic looked horrendous as usual, which always make me feel better.

Icy roads, snowing, and 25 mph headwind on my way to work this morning. I was rewarded on the ride home with a nice tailwind and fairly clear roads!

Another warm one but I am hearing we may have snow late tomorrow. 60F / 16C

Tailwind here and there on the way home. And warm enough to get sweaty.

55F this morning, so just shorts and t-shirt again. Overcast skies made it darker than normal, but a good ride happened anyway.

Lots of fresh (but wet and heavy) snow on the ground overnight. Finally completed my winter bike with DIY studded tires. They probably helped but the snow was so thick and the sidewalks and paths were unplowed so my tires didn't penetrate to the pavement, especially in some places, and tended to slip back and forth a lot. This afternoon's ride should be much better despite the fact that it continues to snow right now. Hard work riding but enjoyable!

21F (-6C) this morning, but the winds were light and the sky blue. Not a bad ride.

Forecast is up to 12" of snow tomorrow.

The ride in today was good. Temperatures in the low 50s, slight headwind but not too bad.

It was a rainy night last night. I am so glad I have not been driving; every night here the traffic back up for the bridge I would have to take to get my son makes my head hurt as I bike past. It was a fast ride and I felt good. My wife was really worried about drivers and the visibility, but I made it fine with no issues.

I went past a guy and let him know something on his rack was blocking his light, he thanked me and then proceeded to let me know how visible I was. He seemed taken aback by my visibility, which is what I am going for.

I eventually passed another guy who had I to let him know that his helmet light on flash, with a white led to the rear was not good at all. I told him how it was blinding and right in my eyes. I was glad I was not behind him on a hill. He had no idea and thanked me, I hope he went home and changed his set up. I did not let him know it almost negated his red rear light due to brightness.

Took my little man to daycare this morning and it was a nice ride.

I did a lot of weaving and filtering on the bridge approach, I didn't want to stop. As I was exiting the bridge I heard someone yelling, I assumed I was being berated. But no, to my surprise it was a guy in a panel van cheering me on and giving me a huge thumbs up. That was nice.

Yesterday I was teasing some forum members because they were blaming the weather for not riding and guess what? Last night the Wind was up to 107 kmh , it was crazy dangerous just walking on your feet so I called my wife and got a lift... The bicycle gods punished me... I swear I won't do it again :backpedal:

The morning ride was great, the winds are still up to 40-50 kmh, the ride home will be hard but at least I should not kill myself

...with good reason. People were driving very stupidly last night. I wear SO MUCH high-vis gear and blinky lights: Red ones facing back: 3 on the bike, 1 on the backpack, 1 on the helment. White lights facing forward: 2 on the bars, 1 on the frame, 1 on the helmet. It is ridiculous, and I STILL had no less than 3 scares on a route that is usually quite uneventful. I wasnt even in a hurry--drivers were just mental.

This morning was wet also, but uneventful. I was late so I rode fast.

It never ceases to amaze me of the caliber of drivers here. I went out to your neighborhood London Drugs Sunday night and I saw two cars almost get t-boned by pulling out or turning in front of cars, this was in a span of five minutes.

I actually had good drivers last night, not like last week. Most gave me pretty good space along the river in Richmond, which can be a real crap shoot.

I am always late and thankfully I have a job where no one complains, nor is anyone waiting on me for anything. I can never seem to get my son ready, lunches made and out the door on time; especially when I take him.

My instrument is repaired and the calibration passed. Back to work. After lunch.

i was riding home in a jersey and bibshorts last night enjoying the pleasantly warm evening until i flatted and i just did not feel like messing with fixing it. I called for a ride. :(

Well, I got soaked today. I was actually planning on taking my brand spanking new car, but th en I looked out my window at the #91 mess and realized that was impractical. Tomorrow I have to drive, so people had better not crash.

Full rain gear kinda morning 46F / 8C We'll see if any of this turns to snow here in DC, I don't think we'll get much.
