Even better I'll just take the keys with me. Not a big deal really, but if you let dependencies form then you're obligated. I just thought it was ironic to need to drive to work to reduce utilization of the car.

This summer, I moved my diet towards a more-Paleo type of diet/food choices which eliminates refined sugar (but doesn't eliminate sugar altogether because sugar would be present in fruits, veggies and honey) and I too felt very good. Despite eating more, I too lost a bit of weight, felt much better and slept better.

i came back to the locker room yesterday evening and someone had moved my towel. I went touch it and it was wet. So that leads me to believe that some one used my towel.
who would use another mans towel? that is just gross!

I brought my pack towel in today and guess I will carry home the contaminated towel. I am not sure what would behoove someone to use someones towel.


Good ride home I figured out that a section of the greenway was opened back up after construction blocked it off so I enjoyed that.

Locker Room behavior in general is horrific. People unwilling to move their bags from benches so that people can sit while they dress, people not showering, old dudes walking around naked and there's a guy at my gym, a black guy with a shaved close haircut, who likes to give himself a haircut weekly.

And no, he never does anything to clean up after himself.

i would never in my right mind ever think to use someone elses towel. I have dried off with paper towels before when I forgot my towel.

Today was the first day since it started cooling off that I didn't have to stop and remove a layer or two. How nice!

On today's commute:

I always forget how much heavier and slower my pannier makes the FG feel. It doesn't seem that un-aerodynamic, and I don't think it comes to more than 15 lbs with clothes and stuff in it, but man, I lose a couple MPH and work harder for it.

That is really unacceptable about the towel. I have been fortunate and shared my shower at the company with exactly two other cyclists in seven years. But recently someone has started showering in the evening and their shoes leave dirty footprints. I think they used my soap once also. I don't like it.

yeah i have shared the locker room with many people our building has a YMCA in it. My towel has hung in the same spot for 3 years of bike commuting ( i put it in my locker in the evenings) this is the first time someone has used it.

GROSSes me out.

Someone went in our locker room last week and removed all of the towels from the hooks and threw them on the floor; they later stuffed them all in one of the lockers. Apparently they also put notes on some people's lockers telling them to remove the locks. I don't think this was done by our building management but someone who only occasionally uses the locker room and was ticked off because they couldn't find a place to hang their towel. I was on vacation when this happened and only found out when I rode to work this morning and my towel was missing when I went to shower. Rather irritating that a coworker would do this.

We have a core group of workers who exercise regularly and use the locker room facilities all the time. That means that towel hooks and lockers are often filled, but it's always on a first-come, first-served basis. I think this was someone who probably works out once every 3 months and was irked when he found that others were already using the facilities.

I guess I'm lucky. There are approximately 12 lockers in the change room. They were initially reserved for one of the offices in our building in which staff had to do dirty work (mine cable testing was one of the duties). Since then, this work has been done elsewhere, the office has a smaller number of staff and the lockers appear to be available on a first-come first-served basis. Two friends who are part-time bike commuters make use of the lockers. In my office on the third floor, there are "remnant" lockers from when part of our office was the staff area for a former cafeteria. I am the only one who uses a locker (there are only 4 and I have occasionally used 2 of them, shame on me).

Commute to work was very nice - cool fall weather.

Commute home from work was fine for me but I did witness a two cars crash about ten feet away from me. Pretty scary stuff.

Afternoon commute Tuesday was uneventful, but faster with a tailwind, so that was fun.

This morning was mostly uneventful, except for the one truck who changed lanes to pass me, and then laid on the horn for a couple of seconds like a jerkwad as he was passing with no cars oncoming.

Got back late to the office from a project site, so didn't get to leave the office until almost 6 and didn't get home until almost 7. Traffic seemed heavier in some places, but lighter in other places. No problems, but had to control and release more than usual.

Funny all this towel talk...Just this morning I had to deal with the mystery brown towel again. I don't know who leaves but it appears every few days. I've considered tossing it. Just laziness pure and simple...it's a shared locker room and if our building sees things left overnight they get pissed...and then they threaten to close off the locker which would kill my commuting.

It was a very nice commute this morning with temps at 44f degrees when I left the house and the full moon with clear skies. One of the streets that I ride that has almost no traffic on it this morning had four cars one after the other. It just strikes me as different why so cars many this morning.

34F with no wind made for a great ride...Bright Moon let me ride for awhile in front Ninja mode (turned off my headlight) when no cars are approaching...Yesterday as I was pedaling in the bike lane on a local road I had a guy yell out his car window as he passed...I caught up to him at the next light and he says to me: "Dude! You are not a car!" and then goes into the whole your gonna get killed out here ahole routine as he sped away.... It made my day. :-) :-) :-)

Expected an easy, fast commute this morning but it was surprisingly tough. I am still recovering from a cold and mega-miles on my legs last week, so initially attributed it to that. However, I realized the problem when I got downtown and saw some flags blowing -- I had been riding into a headwind all the way and hadn't noticed.

My commute home was broken up by a run and dinner with friends in a town that is between work and home. That was fun, but it meant an after dark ride for the rest of the trip home. I have lights, but definitely need a better headlight. It was okay for most of the trip, but for one downhill section I got going fast enough I would like to see a bit further out. When a car was approaching from behind I could see really well from their headlights until they passed.

Good ride in this morning. It was 58F when I left, but I went through a couple of warm spots that even felt a bit humid.

Slightly colder than yesterday, 1C/34F but felt very comfortable in what I was wearing except for near then end when I had 2km and, for the most part, a tailwind so the wind wasn't really keeping me as cool as it was for much of the rest of the ride.

I'm working at another office next week and won't be able to bike commute because the other office doesn't have bike racks, nor space around the cube farm where I'll be stationed for me to store my bike. However, it is close enough to walk to and from work so that'll be my exercise for the week.

60F but felt cooler must be the humidity. I decided to switch things up and added a little to the ride in and got onto the greenway. I saw two deer standing near train tracks and staring at me as I crunched over dried leaves.

Yesterday I had time to take the long way home around the south side of Lake Natoma, and I got to explore the new path that goes along Willow Creek to the Blue Ravine intersection. I went behind the Harley dealership and through the industrial park back to the path. I then turned off the bike path too early for the bridge and wound up lost in a neighborhood, probably adding a mile or two. Nice ride!

I'm pretty happy in bike land right now. Feeling good, have lost weight since getting back on the bike regularly in August. I will probably make 500 miles this year - not that impressive by some standards and low for me due to (in chronological order) home improvement, pregnant wife, and paternity leave cutting out most of the spring and summer. (I figure if I could commute full time on the bike it would be about 2000 miles a year, and I think I made 1000 in 2013.) I've moved over fully to commuting on the Super Sport and ordered some knobbies again for my mountain bike, along with a stem and some different bars. Those should come tomorrow, which will be sort of like New Bike Day Junior. My wife bought me a trailer even before the baby was born and I've also been studying kiddie bikes - too soon I know! I've decided I'd really like to try a full suspension mountain bike but financially it's out of the question for now... cruising Craigslist, wish me luck.

The commute temp was a chilly 34f degrees when I left the house this morning, although mostly clear dark skies. A nice uneventful ride to work.

It was a dark and stormy night... err, morning and well, not really storming, just a drizzle. But it was dark!

To get to work on time, I need to leave no later than 7:10am, but to have less pressure, get there a few minutes early and/or add a mile or two, I like to leave closer to 7. Up until today I had been waiting to leave until about 7:10 so it was just light enough to not really *need* lights. But with the low clouds, fog and mist today, it would not have made much difference. So I left at 7:00 or a little before maybe, lights shining.

All cars passed me safely. But one car figured he would pass me safely and then throw a right hook and try to take me out. I was half expecting it though as it is a street that most cars turn right on. I go straight. I always have less traffic after getting beyond that street. Two cars had passed and taken the right well in advance of me reaching it. A third car passed and went straight. Car number 4 passed and cut right in front of me. I braked and yelled, but doubt he heard anything. Just another close call.
