zonatandem you never know 'till you keep on trying! I do know what the word no means. I just had a lot of money to offer at the time.

I don't get it. It's HIS bicycle, and you have zero claim on it and no reason to expect that he should sell it to you. Grow up, and covet what's available, not what isn't yours.
Regardless of his reasons, or non-reasons for keeping it, it's his to keep and you''re the one who's out of line by making a pest of yourself.

Why does the OP harass on the person potentially "hoarding?"

longbeachgary I offered her $35 even though I still thought it was too much and she claimed I insulted her so I gave her the hurtful truth. I'm not a jerk, I am very polite when I speak to people just like I was polite to the guy who didn't want to get rid of the Peugeot.

As any girl will tell you, no means no, and at that point you need to accept that and move on.

The title had me thinking it would be a guy fondly remembering that first 10-speed he bought new in 1975 or so -- not a kid barely out of high school.
Don't worry, man, there are plenty more old bikes out there.

hoarding is a sickness. There was a guy near here that would buy all the tools he could from the classifieds and CL and then throw them into his yard. I guess he was a well-off hoarder. People in this area seem to over-value their tools anyway, but I have often wondered if they didn't just price them for that guy. There are all sorts of reasons I might not sell something I own. Generally, anything i want to get rid of is given away already.
Now that I posted this story, I remembered that the tool hoarder would then proceed to list the tools for sale. That's how I found out that he had them stored in the yard, which in this area is just destining the tools to the scrap metal dealer. He would never budge on his prices either.

Still learning
Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's house, wife, or property, including bikes.
This POLAR VORTEX is bringing out the wackiness of the weak minded not accustomed to cabin fever. But then, I wouldn't obsess over a C&V Peugeot PGN 10 pictured OP's photo because I have the one below, plus a group of Motobecanes, GR, GJ, C41, Interclub Tandem, and more than 1/2 dozen French mixtes to refurb and flip.

Expect 5 emails asking you to sell it, then get cursed out as a mentally ill hoarder when you say no.

I went to the local bike shop today to drop off my Schwinn for a tune up and he interrupted my speaking and asked why I ride a bike that is meant for a man over 6'. Haha I'm 5'5" but I try and avoid the bumps on the road if you know what I mean! And nice bikes brandenjs!
