Hey everybody I just found these on sale at performance and ordered a couple of them for my mountain bike.

https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=5425

As soon as I get them and install them I'll report on their quality etc. I'm not expecting much but for $7 a piece they'll be better than what I've got. Right now I'm running 2.125" slicks and they're so heavy that they slow the bike down considerably. I'm hoping these 26x1.25's will speed it up. Anyway I just thought I'd let everybody know. It seems like a good deal on some slicks for the commuter who owns a mountain bike (like me).

EDIT: Oh yeah and they're 85 PSI so they should perform pretty well!

Take care,

Priced right, RyKo!...

FYI, the "Performance Fast City ST/K Road Use MTB Tire"

https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...e.cfm?SKU=2314

is also on sale for $10 (normally $22) for those who want a little tread and kevlar. A lot of tandem riders and tourers have been recommending this tire on the bikelist forum.

Hey,
I have the 1.5 Perf City...on my rainy-day MTB commuter. Although they aren't even the Kevlar belted ones, they've never flatted-and they've got over 2k miles.

In fact, I use the GT2K Perf tires on my road bikes, too. They hold up really well and are a steal when they go on sale...something like 8$!( I ride a lot, so I buy a bunch.) I get a few thousand miles out of a rear. Then I replace the rear. A front will last through two rears.

I use Performance branded tires exclusively (cause on sale their cheap). No complaints here ... good stuff.

You should definitely notice a difference in your speed going from 2.125 to 1.25.

I've been using Schwalbe Marathons (26 x 1.5) for several months and so far no complaints. They ride well in the rain and the tread doesn't wear very fast. I keep them at 90 PSI and still hit curbs and ride on unsmooth terrain without any problems.

Last year I ran 26x1.5's on the same bike and it was much faster then. Its mostly due to the weight. Plus I have thick tubes + slime in those. They'll never flat but they'll never go very fast either. With the 2.125's the comfortable speed is 12-13 mph with not alot of exertion. With the newer tires I expect 15-16mph for the same exertion, and much faster acceleration.
