Min. tire width for 27mmx559mm Sun Rhyno Lite rims
I have self-made "hybrid" bike that uses 27mmx559mm (i.e., 26") Sun Rhyno Lite rims with 26"x1.75" Continental Top Touring 2000 tires. These tires are awesome but have worn away after about 10 years (5k miles) service.
All my riding these days are pavement/road with the bike below (used for grocery, errands mostly). I don't weigh that much but my rear panniers can accumulate up to 40lbs (gentle riding over mostly smooth pavement or road).
Using the SAME rims, what's the min. tire width I can get away with?
(Replacement tire will most likely be 1.5" or 1.6" Kenda or Geax. But a 1.25" width appeals to be for fast speed. FWIW, this chart (also shown below) suggests 1.5" to be the min. "recommended" width for 27mm wide rims.)
Thx for any feedback you can provide!!

Is high pressure important?
What about pressure?
Many suggest "high" pressure. Not sure what's high for my application. The Geax Street Runner 26 x 1.6" model has a suggested range of 45-75psi, but the 1.25" can go as high as 100psi.
Also, for high pressure, should one opt for a certain type of inner tube? E.g., one more robust as the inner diameter (one that mates with rim and valve-stem hole) experiences more "stress" at higher press.
Tire Rim Width Recommendations Chart
I think Bill Kapaun is right. I found the same ID of the rim. According to this chart, which is just bit conservative from what I have read, you are on the narrow side. I'm willing to bet if we overlayed the Bikes Direct chart with this one, we would have a match.
