I don't remember seeing this before, but that doesn't mean a lot.

Ha!!! I just got 3 Magna MTBs off CL for $40. I was gonna wait until May then set them up for sale across the street from the county courthouse.

Squirt some 15/40 on the chain and air up the tires. $35 ea, but I'll take 30.

This is a great anime show. First heard about it in one of these forums. Very entertaining.

I love Yowapeda!

I hurry home on Mondays to download the anime, and I visit Sleeping Dragons at least once a day to check progress on the manga translations. For those new to it, English translations of volumes 1-9 of the manga are here, newer volumes at Sleeping Dragons.

Is that a legal downloading sight? Just curious, show looks interesting and I would love to watch it.

Unless you are actually in Japan and watching it on television, then no, it's not legal.

Just as unless you have a print copy of the manga in Japanese, then it's also not legal.

You can watch a stream without actually downloading at many of the anime sites. But no, those aren't legal either.

You can watch it legally. Here in the US, at least. Crunchyroll, and, I think Hulu as well, has a license to simulcast it with subtitles. (Edit: Hulu just mirrors the Crunchyroll videos). It's gotten to the point where you can watch just about any anime legally from sites like Hulu and Netflix, as well as Crunchyroll. Edit: in the US, at least. I don't know what, if any, equivalent exists in the UK...

Downloading is always a no-no however.

Not sure on Hulu, but unless you're a paid member, you have to wait longer on crunchyroll and can only get the lowest quality. If you're going to stream, may as well stream on a site that offers HD, but that's just my 2 cents. I've always downloaded/never had an issue with it though, so that's how I go about it. They're not going to come over from Japan and sue you for watching a show they never offer to you to begin with. You're not taking from their profits because you were never a target audience to begin with.

Neat. I figured there had to be some YowaPeda fans on Bikeforums.

More than anything, I'm really looking forward to the OST being released, there are a few tracks used in the anime that should be a lot of fun to ride to.

@Bovice I'd guess you're also disappointed that it doesn't look possible to get hold of any of the yowapeda jerseys that were released in Japan? There's a cosplay kit for sale on Ebay, but it doesn't look like it's made to survive actual riding use...

Oh I'd be all over a Hakone get-up. I could pull off a darker Izumida

I like the Hakone kit too. The Sohoku is okay, except maybe for the shorts--erm, I mean racing pants. A black crotchetal region would work better, since I'm too old for fangirls or fanboys. A 57 YO man showing a package is just creepy.

While with a box of dye, I have the hair for Makishima, I'm more of a puncheur than a pure climber. And the stop-and-go nature of my commutes give me a really good sprint.

Okay, truth be told, I'm an ordinary cyclist, like Teshima. But I need hair dye for that too.

You got me excited, too. I was hoping there was a new Rick Smith/Brian Griggs project.

I am now two episodes into Yowapeda on crunchyroll, and I am HOOKED. So impressed with how well they've done the bicycles. Thanks for turning me on to this anime!

Holy carp, they've even got the wobbly frame on the "Pinarrelo". This show is so. Awesome.

I tried giving Yowapeda a shot, but I couldn't get over the un-realistic portions of their training, equipment, and tactics. I think I gave up when the sophomores were half-wheeling each other and creating sparks from the rims rubbing together.

Same thing happened to me when I learned how to box and going back to watch Rocky. There's something to enjoy there, but it's not for me.

I hear you - I'm the same way with horse movies. Especially movies that rely on changing the rules for whatever type of equestrian competition the hero/ine is doing. I even get irked when I see stirrups and horseshoes in Greco-Roman Epics...sometimes you just know too much about something to be able to suspend disbelief. I think I'm in that happy medium with racing in that I'm familiar with it enough that I get a lot of the references, (thank you, Cosmo Catalano!) but I've never even watched one in person and have no interest in racing myself, so the inaccuracies don't bother me.

For more realistic bicycle racing anime. You'd probably want to go with one of the "Nasu" movies. "Summer in Andalusia" and/or "A Migratory Bird with Suitcase."

Nope, doesn't seem to exist on Netflix, unfortunately.

The problem with downloading (which has been a problem with extended Netflix use lately also) is that it sucks up our 300 GB monthly data allowance on our Crapcast internet.

It's not new, but it's one of my favorite comic strips ever, and I happen to see it on my FB feed this morning:
