Lost my mirror (a Take-A-Look) on the ride to work this morning (heavy fog, so I took off my glasses, with mirror attached, and put them in a jersey pocket; when I got to the office pocket produced only the glasses ).

I'm thinking of trying a mirror that I can attach to my helmet (which does not have a visor).

Any recommendations?

I'm a big fan of a helmet-mounted mirror. I can turn my head to scan side-to-side behind me, and I can wear different glasses based on light conditions.

I really love my Safe Zone mirror. Big field of vision, very adjustable, stays where you adjust it unless it gets bumped, but then it is very easy to get back into position. When I received it in the mail I was a little leery of the construction (I was afraid the plastic joints would wear), but after three solid years of almost daily use it is still going strong as new.

I use a Cycleaware Reflex, but I have had trouble getting them to adhere permanently to the helmet. I had a take-a-look but the sharp, stiff wire in it nearly took my eye out in an accident a few years ago, and it DID cut my face up to the tune of about 18 stitches, so I like the Reflex with the soft gumby wire now.

This is the solution I came up with last week when the mirror came off and I decided to really deal with the problem. PM me your address if you need one and don't have access to a 3D printer.

I like the Third Eye mirrors though I use Goop to attach to the helmet instead of the hook & loop stuff they come with. I've broken a couple over the years (from dropping the helmet) and they are easy to deal with for getting replacement parts. Very light, very stable and very clear field of vision.

I use take-a-look, and it mounts to the visor on my helmet. I'm on my second one, because I lost my original after it came off my helmet during a roadside repair stop. Now I secure it on with a sturdy twist-tie (like plastic-coated kind, not just paper).

And take-a-look does make an adapter for mounting onto helmets without visors; but I can't vouch for how well it works. It appears to be just a trivial flap of plastic that sticks/glues into the helmet.

I use the Monkey Mirror. It fits to the helmet securely. It is the best I have used.

I use a Third Eye mirror. However, I've modified it for use on my helmet. I've removed the little rubber bits on each of the three posts that normally fit on eye glasses. I then put three small holes in the bottom edge of my helmet to match the spacing of the post. Put a drop of superglue in each hole and insert the posts. This gives me a mirror that is permanently mounted on the helmet. Once I have the mirror adjusted to the position from which I can see best, I put a drop of superglue on the swivel joint and it locks the mirror in that position. The big advantage is that I never have to adjust the mirror. I just put the helmet on and everything is always ready to go.

Looks interesting. Super over the top hipsterland though. Do they have one that has "matte black" as a "design" or do I need to order that as a custom?

The HubBub and the Monkey Mirror (the MM seems to be the same concept) look interesting, as does the Safe Zone.

I see that the Safe Zone is big — does that bother anyone?

Third Eye — this may have been my first attach-to-my-glasses mirror. I eventually replaced it with the Take-A-Look, as the Third Eye broke where it hooks onto the glasses.

Take-A-Look is a nice product. I'd use it again, but I think I want a mirror that stays on the helmet.

I do some MTB rides, so the ones that are easier to remove (HubBub and Monkey) might be preferable, though i can easily snip off zip ties holding the Safe Zone in place. I have a bunch of zip ties — the modern baling wire — so I could reattach the Safe Zone without a lot of hassle.

I wish there was a shop in town that carried all of these, but most don't have any mirrors at all, or just one (the Third Eye or the Take-A-Look).

I've used lots of eyeglass/helmet mirrors, and the Take-A-Look mirror wins in adjustability, durability, and foldability.

This is my first mirror and I LOVE IT. I move it from bike to bike, from my drops on my road bike to my bull horn bars on my single speed (rain bike).
