Rain coat for aroun $60?
So I'm looking to pick up a cheap packable and breathable rain coat to stuff in my messenger bag for around $60. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about getting the O2 Rainwear Original Cycling Jacket. Any thoughts on it?

I have one of those with the hood. It's packable, but doesn't breathe all that well. First time I used it, I was just as wet from sweat after a 9 mile ride as I was from the rain.

I love my Marmot Precip jackets. I've got two. While not cycling specific, they've worked better than many more expensive cycling specific rain jackets I have had in the past. Here's a link. It appears they are in or near your price range these days. I got mine on sale at REI for around $30 each.

Other than thrift stores/charity shops? on sale and 2nds are good ... sierra trading post does the latter ..
overstocks and discontinued replaced [by new model], and blems. |
Breathable is not realistic. Just get something with pitzips. I bought a jacket at Performance that works great, but I still sweat.

I bought a whole "frogg toggs" breathable rain suit from walmart for about $20. I never regret it.

It's a bit more money, but I have the waterproof/breathable vented jacket from J&G:
Waterproof Breathable Jackets from People Who Really Know Waterproof Breathable Jackets! I've had it for 5 or 6 years now, I wear it as a top layer all winter and whenever it's raining and cold, I've worn it hundreds of days so far and it's still totally fine. |
Breathable rain gear isn't cheap.
