Midnight Marathon Ride in Boston on Sunday.

I be in town for the Midnight Marathon ride starting in Southboro on Sunday. Anyone else?

One crazy thing is that the authorities wanted us to cancel the ride this year. The route is open to all traffic till 7:15 AM, but for some reason people on bikes are a threat. We are staying clear of the start and finish line because of the security concerns. There is a pancake breakfast being offered from 1 till 4:30 AM. Advanced ticket is required. Temps will be in the mid 40's which is just about right for the Boston Strong on bikes.

This was a very very cool ride. Riding your bike at midnight....in a big city...with hundreds of like minded folks following the Boston Marathon route is a unique and very much a fun ride.
I was astounded at the amount of press from around the country this generated.
For example
The LA Times article and video is HERE

I joined the Ride Crazy Boston group and did the round trip, starting from the Public Garden. Pretty intense, especially after having done two longish rides on the previous two days, but lots of fun!

I'm very envious. What a great way to start Patriots' Day. Here's hoping BAA and MBTA are back onboard next year!

Rode it, had a blast. The best part for me was coming into Boston at around 2 AM with a nice bright moon in the sky.

2AM? Nice. I didn't leave the train station till just before 1AM. Did you ride to Southborough then back to Boston?

My son lives in Natick, and he has a friend that lives in Boston. He drove into the city early on Sunday and left his car at his friends place, then rode back to Natick, I drove to his house Sunday afternoon, and we loaded our bikes in my pickup and drove to the starting area, then rode into Boston, then rode to his buddy's place, put our bikes in his car, drove back to the starting line and then drove both vehicles back to his place in Natick. Took a bit of planning, but it was worth it. We left the train station at midnight with the first wave.
