Good afternoon ,
spring is comming and i would like to purchase a helmet cover for the early wet season.
I checked with 5 LBSs and they all thought I was crazy "A Helmet Cover?? Huh never heard of such a thing" .
anyway, short of a throwaway baggie does anyone make a cover that will work with a visor besides J&G cycle in oregon?
Ive seen the gore covers and others But black isnt a great saftey color for rainy /foggy conditions.
most covers , the few and far between seem to only fit the older style round helmets.
any suggestions "please"? im not opposed to ordering from J&G but to ship only one item from the opposite coast dosnt make sence to me but it may be the only option.

Is it a removable Visor on your helmet ?
Mec makes 2, one has a little neoprene visor built into it.

clear packing tape. cover as many holes as you need, or uncover as you warm up.

Burley makes one, also Louis Garneau.
I don't know if they're still in stock, they're hard to find, but Nashbar has a bin of Louis Garneau western helmet covers, in stock somewhere on their website. Western helmet cover has a Beau Geste backflap (tuck up or let it protect neck from rain) and reflective piping on all-yellow. Fits over a brimmed helmet, also has its own visor.
Funny thing though, I live in Seattle, bike every day, and have never used one- i just wear a Gore windstopper beanie under my helmet in even the wettest of weather- I have the western cover, but never have used it...https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename=

I too have one of the J&G Cycle Wear waterproof / breathable covers. Mine's the extra long version, so it goes on over a visor on a mountain bike helmet or the Bell Metro or Citi.
A side benefit is that the bright yellow color and reflective material help to make my titanium colored Bell Metro more visible on the days when it really SHOULD be more visible than it is.

I have a J&G helmet cover, not the breathable one. I didn't get the oversize for a visor, but recently bought a Bell Citi with visor, and the non-long one fits perfectly; I actually wouldn't want it any bigger.

I've been using the Louis Garneau cover for years, I leave it on for the whole winter. It has outlasted at least three helmets.

What I don't like is that I had to remove the visor to get it to work; the visor helps keep rain out of my eyes. Also, it is black and not reflective; I would rather something with better nighttime visibility. The J&G looks interesting and is slightly cheaper:

Another satisfied J&G customer here. The breathable one actually breathes very well. I've seen the Illuminite ones,but don't like them because they don't do anything for daytime visibility and aren't waterproof.

For anyone else reading this old thread now (assume the OP figured out a solution by now) I decided to put the waterproof layer UNDER my helmet as I have a helmet light I didn't want to block. I got a waterproof cycling cap, fits great under helmet, keeps head dry. Still lets my helmet mounted light increase my visibility.
This is what I got

I also saw GORE was mentioned but complaints of black color option, so an option if you prefer helmet cover AND want high vis, they now have a high vis one

Well, i never bothered covering my helmet or any other part of me for rain protection. For one it helps keep me cool. Also, my hair i keep very short so no big deal there. New helmet from Nutcase will go naked. However, since i have a new Fuji fully vented helmet.... I plan to get a hoodie from thrift store & use the hood, sew it closed and viola! The sleeves will be made into padding for the rear rack (reduce noise, increase friction), and the main body will be sewn with some vinyl & i'll make it into a cover for milk crate strapped to rack. 2 US dollars, 3 solutions!
