For some it is. My business attire wouldn't hold up over a 7 mile hilly ride, so I change when I get there.

Sold out in many sizes? Must be in high demand or low supply. I'm guessing the latter. Until they make a suit with built in airconditioning, I'll stick with lycra.

No need for a bike specific suit. Cyclists have been riding in suits for years,
heck I see them every day here in New York on bikeshares. I've even done
it myself a few times on my Brompton folding bike - and my suit is nowhere
near US$700 either.

I appreciate that people and companies are trying to solve issues that might make commuting by bike more accessible to more people. I'm pretty sure this one is going to open the flood gates.
Actually I'm surprised it's not a kickstarter project. Probably because the suit doesn't sync with your smartphone and post selfies to Facebook of you in a suit riding to work while ordering coffee from the local shop to be ready upon your imminent and perfectly coifed arrival.

I dislike the "mixing workout and commute" comment immensely. An automobile driver isn't "mixing sitting on their butt shufling their feet with their commute". Haha.
Anyways... my main issue isn't sweat, but when i push on pedal, my quads turn rock hard and push out against whatever i'm wearing in that spot. A secondary issue is my calf muscles, which it looks like i may need sock suspenders to keep socks from slipping down off the very huge calf muscles i've developed. Show me regular clothes that help with THAT & i'll be impressed!

In the UK, we have had a "high performance" suit on the market for decades. It is crease-fee and machine washable can also carry it in a bag.

I don't know, I like it! I don't wear suits to work though. I've been wearing the Levis Commuter series pants and shorts for years now. To me, they're more comfortable than regular jeans and shorts and last a heck of a lot longer in the...shall we say "crotchal" area? Added plus for me: They look exactly like the 511s I wear anyhow, so I can wear them whenever. Today's the only day I didn't ride into work and you know what? A quick glance at my southern regions indicates I'm wearing them anyhow.
So yeah, functional, but normal looking commuter clothes are a plus in my book!
