Thoughts on these Dimension wheels?
Hey all, I'm building a bike with a Soma ES frame for city commuting/light touring. My LBS has recommend: Dimension Road Front Wheel 700c Shimano Tiagra / Mavic Open Sport Silver
I'm a bit of a newb and would appreciate comments/advice. I'm 6'6" 240lbs as well.

For your size I think it would do well----32H and 3X laced.
It is quite heavy, but so is a touring bike, even "light touring" and I can't see you noticing it.
The description that I found didn't say anything about ball and cup or sealed bearings. Ball and cup bearings have served millions of riders perfectly fine for decades. Sealed bearings just eliminate a bit of maintenance.
Machine built----some are opposed. It doesn't bother me in the least............as long as your bike shop checks tension/true before you ride it. Then it's not different than Bob Taylor using CNC machines to build fantastic guitars. The wood doesn't care how it's cut, a rim doesn't care how the spokes are poked through it. It's the human touch in the last bit of production that adds the quality.
