Best hot drinks mug / holder combo?
My wife has already given up Christmas shopping for me this year. I commute through the winter, and I asked her to get me some kind of insulated, drinkable thermos for hot drinks and an appropriate holster for it. She tried to do some research, but the variety was too much for her. I hopped on to look and I can't blame her for giving up.
What do you use, and what would you recommend? Do you like handlebar holders or a specialized holder that attaches in place of a water bottle cage? Which thermos is best?
-This year is a hot chocolate year.

I've got a "Bubba" brand stainless steel insulated bottle that works great. It fits in a standard water bottle cage on bikes, and will keep coffee hot for at least 1:10 hours on cold winter mornings. No need for special mounts to carry it.

I use a Contigo travel cup. It was around $20 at Target. Double walled, vacuum sealed, stainless steel and spill proof. I've turned it upside down and no problem (forgot I had it one morning and had to fix a flat...it stayed in the bottle cage and after I realized it was there, no spills or mess, and a perfect time to take a few drinks). I forget if it is 16 or 20 oz, but it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold for hours. It fits in my water bottle cage..some better than others but it fits in all. I got it when I was in the Coast Guard and we had night missions or went out in the winter. It has lasted me 7 years so far.

I second the Contigo. It fits in my water bottle holder and is easy to get in and out and I have never been worried about it popping out. It keeps drinks hot and it does not spill. I also keep a traditional Thermos in the pannier. It fits in the water bottle holder but I prefer the water bottle in the second cage.
It also is easy to use even with gloves on.

Awesome. Thanks for everyone's input.
I think I like the Contigo for the lid and ease of washing. Can't wait to try it out!

I cannot quite fit my hand inside to wash it. But I only put coffee, black not sugar in it so I rarely wash it. I use my scrubby and a knife to reach in and clean my wife's mug.
The curve of it is nice for my aluminium bottle cage. If you have a Costco they usually sell them in pairs for about $20.

My wife bought me a thermos-like coffee thing from Starbucks that fits great into a standard water bottle cage and doesn't wobble about or fall off. Nothing high-tech at all and probably an inflated price since its from Starbucks . . . but it works!

I love the Klean Kanteen insulated bottles. They are great for cold or hot. They are too wide for standard cages but the King Cage Iris work well with them.
