Hey @RidingMatthew, the Jake the Snake is more responsive and the Nature Boy is smoother. The winter tires change the quality of the ride and I will be glad to get the CX Comps back on the Jake come spring time. I remove the front tire on the Nature Boy and replace it with a Land Cruiser. Really improves the ride. Overall they both feel really good under me.

Another Volpe here....made a couple fit tweaks since this picture was taken, and built up a new wheelset for it, but it's still basically the same

looks great. What is the rear fender? As I'm looking for one to put on my CX bike. How are the dropbar bar mitts warmth?

The rear fender is a SKS S-Blade, I do like that it's easy to add/take off or transfer from bike to bike.

The Bar Mitts are awesome, I've commuted down to 14 degrees and haven't required more than my thin summer fingerless gloves under the Bar Mitts.

My commuter-ized CAADX. Added a rack & pannier. And some Bontrager Hardcase tires for the debris-riddled downtown streets.

My 2014 Jamis Nova Sport. Great commuter bike! I've added Schwalbe marathon Plus tires, Thule commuter panniers and seat bag, Axiom Streamliner rack, Portland Design Works Fenders, and most recently, Selle Anatomica X-series saddle.

Yesterday in SF I saw a gold flake Trek XO1 (yes Trek not Bridgestone). It was parked by the ferry building and had a rear rack. Later I saw the owner pulling out with a couple of panniers, you know, a baguette, celery, just like the movies.

2015 Lynskey Urbanskey. Same frame as the Cooper CX, but with road cable routing. Finally turned into full commuter with rack and fenders. And bell.

Lol, don't tell the guys over at Surly, or a dozen other companies, that what they've been doing since the nineties didn't have a definition until 2006 when Schwinn started doing it....
Not to mention road bikes practically started out being pretty comparable to modern "adventure/gravel grinding" bikes with 32mm tires and all day comfort in mind. Somewhere along the way the big manufacturers forgot their way by dumping everything into less ideal road bikes because people need to identify with racers or something. But there have been plenty of companies who kept that spirit alive, and added to it tremendously.

I changed my tires this weekend. I now am riding on Vittoria Voyager Hypers. They're huge, rated at 37mm, measured at 35mm. They look like 3-speed tires, but they ride fast, as evidenced by my speedometer.

You might have gone too cheap. Sell them and treat yourself to some nice tires.

@noglider i am afraid you might be right. I am disappointed in that what I think i found out was that they do not make my michelin city with Protek anymore. The michelin Protek and protek urban are the only options. I will give them another ride or two to figure it out. it was raining and 40 degrees so i might not have been pushing hard.
