This thread must be the identical twin of the "chain lube" thread. I used xxx lube so it must be best. Someone ought to start a best lube for commuting bike thread.

But some lubes are more comfortable than others!

Because they are, that's why!

60 is warm no matter where you are, unless you're an annoying commuter from CA

The biker has the responsibility for a safe pass. I love my brass bell. It lets the peds KNOW when you are passing them. How else should the bikers do this? Bikes= bells. Works for me on my MA mups, everyone seems to get it.

Bike lane? What's that? I can't ride my own speed? Horrors. Coasting downhill is the only time a get to air guitar. Van Halen of course. Dude. Chillax.

My two biggest pet peeves are:
Wheel sucking without every attempting to take over.
And seeing parents teaching their kids really poor bicycle trail etiquette.

Besides that almost nothing bothers me. Cycling in 7 miles almost exclusively on a trail. Under the sunrise and sunset. Also a shower and locker room with indoor bike racks pretty much makes my commute a constant dream. Everyday i get into work grinning.

I don't believe in purchasing overpriced chain lubes at LBS's...So I make my own chain lube from automotive oil and WD-40, is that annoying enough ??

Every cyclist has a close relationship with their bike(s); some of us just tend to be a bit more intimate than others, that's all. Who are you to judge?

How does that work? I have heard that mineral spirits and synthetic motor oil work ok too.

I guess if you are quite and discreet it shouldn't bother anyone.

Doesn't bother me. I wax my chains. How does that compare? As I recall from past threads, that gets to some folks in a big way.

You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never to get involved in a land war in Asia. And only slightly less well known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Whatever. My lube has carbon buckyballs and has been used on the TdF by stage winners.

How much weight does it add to your bike after you apply it?

What is this "lube" you speak of, and what purpose does it serve? Where can I get "lube?"

Well it seems that pretty much everything our fellow commuters do is an annoyance. From living in California to the kind of lube we use or not.

It works very well on my FG/SS drivetrain. I am not picky about lubes, it's only a simple chain.

Bikers at the front of the MUP who start off slow as they try to clip in. You don't have to clip in to pedal, you can pedal a little un-clipped (un-clipless?) to build up speed and then clip in.

the winning annoyances are: running traffic lights and salmoning, followed closely by trackstanding!

I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this, so some may have been left out or duplicated. I counted 98 complaints.

Largely depends on the pedal. Some of the SPD pedals have such a small (non-existent tbh) platform it is impossible to pedal unless you are clipped in. Track stands can help alleviate this problem, just make sure no one from this thread seeing you doing it!
