This thread must be the identical twin of the "chain lube" thread. I used xxx lube so it must be best. Someone ought to start a best lube for commuting bike thread.

In California '60 is not warm. It's not even t-shirt weather. Brrr.
(sometimes I wear a jacket that I don't really want now because I'll want it later and have nowhere else to stow it for this ride - my commute home from work is always colder than my commute in and sometimes it goes from sunny to raining too)

speaking as walker, i absolutely loathe bells. maniacal dring dringing of loud brass bells really pisses me off. imo, walkers have absolutely priority over cyclists on sidewalks/mups so cyclists should only ring their bells in emergency situations. ringing a bell to warn someone is, imo, the equivalent of honking a car horn at a cyclist without cause.

Because in the bike lane, it forces everyone behind you to slow down. I won't run a red light, and Im not going to push to get into the front of a paceline of commuters, however, someone coasting along on a mountain bike with a milk crate loosely strapped to the back of it is unnerving for someone who wants to get home in time to make dinner for their girlfriend. At least stay off to the right so others can pass you!

My two biggest pet peeves are:
Wheel sucking without every attempting to take over.
And seeing parents teaching their kids really poor bicycle trail etiquette.
Besides that almost nothing bothers me. Cycling in 7 miles almost exclusively on a trail. Under the sunrise and sunset. Also a shower and locker room with indoor bike racks pretty much makes my commute a constant dream. Everyday i get into work grinning.

I don't believe in purchasing overpriced chain lubes at LBS's...So I make my own chain lube from automotive oil and WD-40, is that annoying enough ??

Doesn't bother me. I wax my chains. How does that compare? As I recall from past threads, that gets to some folks in a big way.

You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never to get involved in a land war in Asia. And only slightly less well known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Well it seems that pretty much everything our fellow commuters do is an annoyance. From living in California to the kind of lube we use or not.

Bikers at the front of the MUP who start off slow as they try to clip in. You don't have to clip in to pedal, you can pedal a little un-clipped (un-clipless?) to build up speed and then clip in.

the winning annoyances are: running traffic lights and salmoning, followed closely by trackstanding!
I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this, so some may have been left out or duplicated. I counted 98 complaints.

Largely depends on the pedal. Some of the SPD pedals have such a small (non-existent tbh) platform it is impossible to pedal unless you are clipped in. Track stands can help alleviate this problem, just make sure no one from this thread seeing you doing it!
