The gag didn't really pay off when they discovered the beads - it paid off when they each left and went tink tink tink down the hall. I think, for one victim, they sort of grew on him. When he got home his kid loved it too. The other one walked the bike halfway down the hall, then decided to carry it! I don't know if he made it to show his wife.

The temp was 22f degrees this morning when I left the house with mostly clear skies. The ride in is nice except at the last turn into the road my company is on. There is ice on the road at this location whenever the roads are wet and then the temp goes below freezing. There is a down hill and then I make a left at the very bottom, where there is a very busy coffee shop on the right side of the road. In the winter there are always accidents there due to the ice on the road. It makes me a little nervous to have someone close behind me riding on ice. I know not to hit my brakes or i will fall so I go real slow at the end of the hill so not to have to hit my brakes once the ice begins. I will be glad when all the snow melts or the temp is above 32f in the am.

Tough commute this morning, with tired legs and a headwind all the way. I rode the long way home yesterday afternoon, two hours almost entirely into the wind. There is a common thread here. The wind is ruling my commutes lately, largely determining how easy or hard they are. I had favorable winds on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, but what the wind giveth, the wind taketh away.

On the plus side, I've finished my third week in a row with 4 commute days and about 140 miles for week. I haven't totally made up the mileage deficit due to February's ice weather, but I'm putting a dent in it. My new long afternoon commute route is working out great, and almost totally removes me from traffic. Once the days get a little longer and warmer, I might try to tackle the long route both ways for my first metric commute.

Good ride home last night. A little faster than usual, so there must have been a tailwind of sorts.

A little cooler this morning than expected. Overcast skies and slight chance of rain today it seems.

A nice 45 degree morning for the ride in. My legs feel a little tired this week for some reason but I will keep pushing through.

Yesterday's 'commute' (I rode from my home to my home office ) I went around a part of Lake Minnetonka. Fun ride until I turned right, taking the tailwind and turning it into a crosswind. Coming off the lake at over 20 mph with gust up to 38 mph. I unclipped a couple times when the gusts made it hard to control the bike, I didn't put the foot down, but felt like I needed to be ready to put a foot down. I modified my route to get to a trail off the lake and away from traffic.
Lake ice is almost gone on Lake Minnetonka!

Today's ride is a little more 'official' as a commute, bike past my old office to the Memorial Blood Center to make a donation. It will be a slow ride home, no Strava KOMs!

It's been such an unusually balmy March, so I swapped the studded tires for slicks on my commuter last weekend, and naturally, it snowed this week. April Fools gag by mother nature, I guess. Most of the snow melted on contact with paved surfaces, but I had a bit of snow and ice to contend with in some low-lying sheltered areas. I had to walk up one hill that was sheer ice. -2C/28F with a few snowflakes in the air for the ride in this morning, but it won't collect.

Really quiet roads this morning. With spring break this week, a lot of parents are taking the week off, and with a long weekend coming up, everyone else is taking an extra long break. Plus, a major commuter artery going downtown is closed due to botched bridge construction. It was an extraordinarily peaceful ride in today. I probably should take time off too, but with my boss away, I can actually get some work done!

One downside of a sunny day at the start of Spring is the crowd of new riders, should you take the Greenway path. Some of them out the first time this year, or perhaps ever. You dial it back and take it slow and cautious.

Even so, I rolled up behind a middle age couple still finding their biking legs, a little wobbly, and I hang back over a little bridge and s-turn. When it's clear I ease by, at maybe 12 mph but I really think less than that, and the lady started crabbing at me: "I didn't come out here for Speed Racing, some people going too fast!" and so on.

I was tempted to say "Drats! I thought that I finally had my chance for speed-racing when I saw an older "heavy" woman snaking her mountain bike down the path at 10 mph, but you go and dash my hopes. Foiled again". But I actually enjoy seeing new people out, so I held my tongue ...

53F and rain this morning, expecting near 70 and thunderstorms this afternoon - I'll take it! Ride home yesterday was beautiful - low 60's and a nice tailwind. I wasn't even too annoyed with the fair weather traffic on the MUP

My family lived right on Lake Minnetonka when I was born, back in 1954. I suppose that property is worth a fortune now. We had 8 kids, so it was a big house.

Dark, 35 degrees F., and damp. So it was pretty cold-feeling but I dressed just right for it, for a change. 8 cars passed me in my 9 mile morning commute, that's more than ever. I am hoping to snag another long ride home, and get in another 30 mile or so day. Especially since today is my only bicycling commute day this week. :-(

the ride yesterday was pretty good. after work, i went to a TA meeting and rode in manhattan for the first time in a long time. rode up the west side hwy. turned onto Hudson/8th Ave. into the 20's.

then heading back to Brooklyn, i took Broadway, 20th st, 2nd Ave to Manhattan Bridge. had to hop off around 7th street due to the building collapse. it looks like a war zone. very sad.

one thing i notice about manhattan are that the delivery guys are a lot more reckless and do not follow the rules. they are on electric bikes for the most part which are illegal. they're much more so crazy than in brooklyn. it's kind of scary.

commute this AM was pretty nice. had a flat when i got my bike, but i pumped it up quickly and rode out. perfect day for it. 37 degrees F. it will be in the 60s this afternoon. woo hoo!

Beautiful place to grow up!

Those Lake Minnetonka houses are going for big money and sadly, most of the old houses are knocked down and replaced with mansions.

The picture is from a rail-to-trail project, the Dakota Trail, runs from Wayzata out to New Germany - 30 miles of paved trail. Trail is only 5 miles from our house, so we ride it a ton. It helps that there are some good places to eat popping up on the trail too!

i wish my office was closed for good friday majority of the people arent here anyway. I had a horrible nights sleep. awake multiple times and was pretty grumpy this morning.

It was a spitting rain and to warm for the rain coat type ride. I ended up taking the coat off and putting on my vest and hanging on in the wind for the ride in. facing 20mph wind on the way home I hope my legs can handle it they feel pretty tired. wife asked me this morning if I thought I had it to ride today.
@arsprod that is a good ride streak way to go.
