2015!! How was your commute today?

Me either in several years of commuting (though I don't totally trust my memory!). Yesterday we had a high wind warning with gusts over 40mph. It was a direct cross wind for me so I planned a route that kept as many buildings on my left as I rode north. I had one section (maybe a mile) that I rode with the wind - holy frijole! 42F this morning, still stiff winds but down in the 20mph range

colder than expected
I my first full commute of the year, I was under dressed, it was colder than I expected, and the 31 miles felt like 50, plus I had to stop twice to go indoors and warm up. At least it should be warmer on the way home.

It was a perfect overcast morning. There's a large construction project on my regular route that's forced me to come up with an alternate route for a few months; although it adds a half mile in each direction, it takes me past some strawberry fields that smell mighty delicious, especially in the afternoon. I was also stoked to find another license plate to add to my collection this morning.

Windy again this morning. While it helps at certain times, I can't enjoy it too much because of the gusts and cross-winds. I end up leaning a lot and doing mini-swerves to stay balanced.

It was pretty chilly this morning 45F. The camera guy from work had me recreate some stuff for pictures so I was cold until I got moving. I am glad I switched out my gloves and put on my hat with ear covers before I rode in for real.
the cool thing is the sun was out and it was a bright clear day. Looking forward to my 70F ride home too! Wife even cleared me for some extra miles!

I've got to go an extra 25 miles r/t to corporate tonight, so I drove. I feel so guilty.

I rode to work and back yesterday. It was uneventful, except that I had a tailwind in the morning and a headwind in the evening, which is slightly unusual. Actually, they were both cross breezes, but it was slightly tailish in the morning and headish in the evening. Anyway, the good news is that I'm getting accustomed to the route enough that it doesn't seem interminable any more. It's 13 miles each way. The northern half (the end near work) is pretty lonely, as the route is lightly traveled there.
It was raining lightly when I started out, but it stopped very soon afterward. I passed the heliport on 30th St, and a helicopter was landing. The wind it created blew a lot of water onto those of us on the path. It was funny and not annoying. The fuel smell the helicopters make is not pleasant, though. The heliport is immediately adjacent to the path. The next thing over is the Hudson River.

Working on the frankenbike tonight, hoping to get it ready for bike month and the Scott Road ride May 3. I installed the Vuelta HD rims and the Exage 500LX RD and crankset. I'm sort of unhappy with the latter two. The RD may have a bent bolt, and the crankset definitely has a bent outer ring. And it's all coming up pretty heavy. My parts-bin approach to cost savings is not paying off. Still, it will be much lighter than the Super Sport or the MTB-tug.

I had a very good ride in this morning. It is my first all week, but it was nice. I went a little longer route than I have been riding since it is getting light so much earlier.

Great ride this morning, fastest commute in quite a while. A tailwind much of the way helped, and I also rode my fastest commuter bike. It's had a flat for several days and I finally got around to fixing it last night.
Looks like commuting is going to be my primary cycling this week. I was supposed to be riding a 3-day tour in the mountains this weekend but our continually sucky weather looks to be halting those plans. Some friends and I have planned this trip with our wives for months, but it's supposed to be cold and rainy all weekend. We can't get a break with the weather around here lately. We're lucky to get two days of sunshine before it starts raining again. The last time we planned a weekend cycling trip, the same thing happened. Very frustrating.

34F, yikes! Almost nailed by a school bus - apparently she didn't think red lights apply to her. Less than two years ago a guy was killed here by a school bus - how quickly folks forget. Good reminder to me that green doesn't necessarily mean go!

Another cool (39F) start to the day, but a really enjoyable ride in. Light winds and a nice sunrise. My legs were a little tired since I road yesterday as well. My commute takes about 2.5 hrs round-trip, so I normally try to ride M-W-F and give my legs a break on T-Th. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I decided to go ahead and ride today instead.
I'm supposed to have a gravel ride on Saturday, so I spent some time last night converting the bike from 'commuter' back to 'CX' trim. Removed the fenders & rack and put on the aggressive gravel tires.

Had to get my cold weather gear back out. Some of the higher elevations around me are forecasting snow! I hope my fledgling veggie plants survive tonight in the garden.
The ride was nice. Had two very nice school buses to balance out @arsprod's red-light runner. One waved me in front of her so I wouldn't get stuck behind her at an approaching stop. Another made a very nice wide pass.

Was expecting 28F, got 37 and virtually no wind. Much better than expected. I like to average around 30 min on my way in, did it in 34. For whatever reason I just didn't have the power today. It's nice that sunrise is at 6:30 so I don't have to ride in the dark anymore. Hoping the wind stays below 20 mph for the trip home.

A very comfortable 70F and a partial tail wind helped me get home a bit faster than usual yesterday.
Another nice morning today: sunny and about 55F.

First ride to the office in 3 weeks (first time I've gone to the office in 3 weeks). Felt real nice to ride that route again and a wonderful morning - 30F and sunny. Spotted 4 white tails along the way, they are so tame around here, they get about 5 feet off the trail, stop and watch you go by.

36 degrees and dark this morning, but it was still dry and a nice ride. 3 cars passed me in 9 miles, about as good as it gets lately. It's raining now but I brought my Showers Pass for the ride home if it's cold and wet enough that I want it. Ugh, this is my first bike commute in 2 weeks.

it was 47 this morning. i wore what i wore yesterday for 44/5 (i was cool yesterday) and was so comfortable today!
Dropped my chain inside and outside of the front crankset today. I have to figure out why it is doing that pretty nervewracking in traffic.
I hope the city will get the broken down car out of the cycletrack today before my ride home. It is kinda narrow and tricky through there.
I left later than yesterday and there seemed to be a ton more cars/ school buses. I wonder if I need to leave earlier. I wish arriving early meant i got to leave early!

If I see I'm getting close early I'll take a little detour through a neighborhood, circle around a shopping center, or stop at a close-by Panera Bread. Just because you get there early doesn't mean you have to go in and start working.

Chilly commute this morning with temps in the low 40s. The tailwind I had yesterday morning was gone, which hopefully will make my afternoon commute easier. Great commuting week for me, riding 140 total miles in four days.

I got some cold fingers after this morning's chilly 47F temps. But the sun is out and the sky is blue, so warmer temps are coming.
And it's FRIDAY!
