The important question, did anyone see you fall?! No commute for me today, working from home then headed out for the weekend

A very nice commute this morning the temp was a cool 54f degrees when I left the house. I saw the turkeys again at the same place I saw them last time. Two little ones were taking their time crossing the road.

If a cyclist falls on the street and nobody sees, did they really fall down?

Yes, there were three cars directly behind me trying to get around a truck in the left lane going slower than I was, plus the truck and 4 cars behind that. Three pedestrians on the sidewalk, as well.

No bike commute for me today, either. I am worn out from the trail riding yesterday morning and the rain yesterday evening
.

Tired legs this morning after my metric century commute yesterday. The weather finally cooled off a little with slightly lower humidity, with a low in the upper 60s, but that's as good as we can expect in NC this time of year.

My metric commute yesterday was more of a challenge than I expected, since I ride a lot of metrics on the weekends. I probably rode at too fast a pace in the morning, but was trying to make up time because I left 15 minutes later than planned. I was completely drenched with sweat when I got to work, despite the lower humidity, and it took me about 2 hours. The temperatures and humidity had moderated by the time of my afternoon commute, but my legs were tired and I battled a headwind almost all the way home. Made it home in 1:55 but the afternoon route was a little shorter and my pace a little slower. I was whupped when I got home, but my darling wife had a dinner plate prepared for me, and I felt great after eating and drinking a beer. Stats: 62.1 miles in 3:55 hours.

Love it!

Hot and muggy for the commute this morning. Another heat advisory in affect for this afternoon. I'll probably do the bus/bike thing on the way home.

3 laps in prospect park then commuted in to work today ~17 miles. not too shabby.

the morning was perfect, not as brisk and cold as yesterday morning but i'll take it!

augh. was harrassed on my commute tho. took a different route (was trying to find non bumpy roads). now i know why i prefer to wear my casual commuter clothing rather than cycling workout clothing. what about me says, i'm an object? be a jerk! not what i want to deal with on my way in this morning.

Sniff sniff anyone smell bacon.. going to be a hot ride home. 108 heat index. May have to stop midway at McD's. Would be hard to restart the only problem and primary reason I don't. Wasn't too bad on the way in. Starting to have weird headaches and light headed and dizzy if I stand up to fast. All of this bike riding must be dropping my blood pressure more than my body likes.

Got out the door a few minutes late and was afraid I'd miss the train, tired legs but booked it. A full 30 seconds faster than I've ridden the strava segment I go through all week, and it's a pretty short one. Made it there with time to spare, had a very chill ride on both trains (I have to transfer) and a good ride from the train to the office.

On Monday I did my first bike commute, today makes 4 of 5 days bike/train commuting. Next week should be the same, and the week after I plan on riding 5/5 days as long as weather doesn't squash that.

It was warm when I left this morning and now it's over 20 degrees warmer! It's going to be hot for the ride home, I may go straight home instead of running that errand I'd planned on today.

Smoke and idiots... pretty much sums up my commute today!

Large forest fire near the eastern outskirts of the city fill up my area with thick smoke, and to top it off, a idiot ran the red pedestrian light and clipped my front tire; lucky I was walking the bike across and there doesn't seem to be any damage to the wheel or tire.

Other than that, TGIF !!!

Yesterday's commute was glorious, weather-wise. Pleasant breezes, no humid feeling. In the morning I was passed by a young-looking man (under 35) riding an electric bike. He was either singing or whistling, as if to rub in his relative easy of pedaling over the rest of us bike commuters who at the time were pedaling harder to avoid a driver who was thinking about pulling out of his parking spot in front of us.

Met some other area cyclists for beers in the evening then rode at night for the first time. Car traffic was low, so it was quite pleasant.

First chance to extend the commute in >2 weeks (straight line its 13 miles roundtrip, I was doing 20-25 up through July 2 but none from July 3-10 and then closer to straight line commutes this week (some extension from riding w/ my 10 yr old to her camp but that results in a roundtrip of 16.5 I think. Today I did 15 going in. Might have to go home in a straight line though.

Im a newbie to riding and have only been commuting for a couple of weeks. Yesterdays commute was great! I have a very short ride (only 3 miles each way), so I decided to take the long way home. First time over the Williamsburg Bridge. I did have one small issue when my chain popped off. Otherwise it was a nice ride.

While not a commute I thought I'd share this story with you all. I needed to go west on Chambers so I took the Brooklyn Bridge and not the Manhattan. I met this amazing family of tourists in the bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge who responded to my calls of "excuse me" and "wrong side folks!" by yelling "we hear you"and "yeah we heard you." Yet they continued down the bike path and kept yelling at me.

Finally, they went other and I began to sped up only to instantly slam on my brakes as the mom yelled "Those are our kids!" The family exited the bike lane but left their small kids, who I couldn't see since since they were standing in front of them, in the bike lane in the path of an oncoming bike! I came to a full stop about a full bike length back . I then yelled ******** at the parents and went away before they tried to punch me. I just can't believe what stupid parenting that was. Why would they just leave their kids in the bike lane there knowing I'm about to head towards them? I feel horrible for yelling but I was just so amazed and terrified. I don't intend to be an ******* and try my best to be pleasant to pedestrians. But what stupidity! I do feel bad about the whole thing.

Took the opportunity to try a new way to the station today, added about a mile and 10 minutes due to being off road, but no traffic other than the last 1/2 mile or so of my commute.

After a week of zero rides last week due to a strained calf muscle, I'm back to riding. It was just weird not riding. Since we are a one car family and the wife needs the car daily, she would bring me and pick me up to/from work each day. It was kinda nice not being sweaty and not having to change clothes, but I missed the ride and the familiar route.

Quite warm and humid this morning, with a forecast high of 98F. Ugh.

How was my commute today? .. posted this on my FB.

"For my 1000 mile day mother nature threw me a party! Complete with light show and pool. And let me tell you what a no hold barred, swinging shindig, butt kicking ... party it was! Think I'll pass on the next one. I'm pretty sure I won't smell like bacon!"

Commute was great this morning.

Forgot to hit "start" on my garmin, but blasted through my first leg, and felt like I was moving good the second half. Depending on how unbearably hot it is this evening, I may extend my ride home a bit.

Great start to the week. Keeping those pedals spinnin and myself grinnin.

Very hot and humid as usual. Dewpoints have been crazy high here lately, in the upper 70s, and apparently are the best measure of how muggy it feels. Heat index is supposed to reach about 105 this afternoon, which will make for a challenging commute home. I am eagerly awaiting autumn, but we've got at least two more months of heat and humidity before we usually start feeling its effects.

Terrific ride in today! First time I have done the "full" commute from home to work in awhile (as opposed to going from the wife's office to mine). It's going to be a scorcher this afternoon (feels like temp predicted to be 108) - I might get a ride home from my better half but I will decide later. IT was great riding my Peugeot again though. So much so, that I added a little bit of mileage and changed up my ride in to take me on the MUP that is next to the river, and up the hilly main road most cars use. However, it was timed nicely in that I was able to ride on a vacant sidewalk for part of that and by the time I switched over into the road traffic was super light.

Well today was one of the hardest rides I have ever had. well i was trying to go down the hill out of a park and onto the greenway. I was trying to slow enough to make the turn the downhill turn to the left on the greenway. The rear wheel slid and went down hard my left side. I ripped my new bib shorts and have some nice road rash on my leg and arm.

Trying to decide if riding home would be a good idea or not..
