Just to tie this into the cycling theme, the job I have now is the first I've ever had that is truly conducive to cyclocommuting.

I started as a musician in the eighties. Most of my work was in New York City, 30 miles from my home on Long Island, and way too far to drag a drum set on my rear rack. After that, I operated a home-based production company and could only really ride as far as the local 7-11 for coffee before work. That led me into a seven-year career in audio/video-based robbery investigations for Lloyd's of London during the early 2K's. This job had me flying to a different North American city virtually every day of the week, so the bike didn't come out very much at all during those years.

Finally, an opportunity arose for a job with my local township, and, even though it meant a drastic reduction in income, it also meant I'd be working three miles from home. Even better, I could go to work in jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt every day. Having dreamed of commuting to work by bicycle for many, many years, I jumped at the offer before really thinking through the ramifications of making half the money I was used to. Still, for the singular reason that I can get to and from work on my own pedal power, I am really glad to be setting up PA systems and concert venues for my measly salary.

Yes, I'm over 50 and yes I am free from having to go to work. Happily retired.
My previous working life was "using analyzers and chromatographs to tell computers what gases and chemicals were in pipes".

I'm a project manager for a large construction company. Work has moved me to Mass, DC, Virginia, and NYC. I've been able to bike commute in all of these places. I'm very lucky.

I'm a mechanical engineer-turned-electrical/controls engineer, working for a custom air handler company. Lots of programming, and troubleshooting 480V electrical panels.

Quite a few people at work are cyclists, and had a team of 20 for a local organized cycle ride of 50 miles.

Drive to work more often than I ride but have been biking to work in hospitals for 40+ years.

Structural Engineer for an international A/E firm.

Bicycling appeals to my mechanical sense. I think my work has bled over to commuting. I don't pay the shop to repair unless absolutely necessary. I prefer to think it out myself - "what are the stresses?", "is it prone to fatigue?", "right spoke pretension?", "can I patch that?". And then there is the riding "what is my wind drag sail area?", "rolling resistance?", "weight and acceleration?".

It appeals to me for many reasons...

Im a manager for a larger, slowly crumbling retail store, that I cant recommend patronizing. I go into work, flick my wrist and everything done actual work wise. Dealing with the general masses though? God... However it is very convenient for commuting to work, as I have my own office to change and store stuff. Its also conveniently located by the route I use most often for longer rides. I hate my job, but a few minutes on my bike and Ive already forgotten the ridiculously ridiculous day behind me...

I was an electrician, and wouldn't mind going back to that, then worked as a corrections officer for a number of years, couldn't be happier away from that job. Im getting older though, and need to find something else while I can...

I do electrical work, and build/repair/refurbish bicycles in my "free time"...

Degree and license is in chemical engineering. Title is Hazardous Substances Engineer. I work for the state cleaning up hazardous waste sites. I've been in the environmental field for over 30 years, and been at this job for going on 15 years.

They live in between Stuttgart and Ingolstadt, I see interesting older Porsches and Audis all the time. RS2s/928s ... also ABT Tuning is about 20km away

928s aren't that rare there, hence, why it's parked under the tree
