I ride on city streets. Even the darker ones are not too bad.
My Dynamo light was way brighter than. My rechargeable ones!

I have one bike with a dyno. I like it so much I'll be putting them on my other bikes as funds allow. A cheaper alternative for "to be seen" lights are Reelights. I have them on all family bikes in addition to others. That way I never have to worry about them riding at night without a light.

I am finally fully Dynamo-Ed on the new bike. Tonight was my first after sunset ride! It was dusk if you will. Not pitch black yet but getting quite close as I left around 820. It was so nice not to have to worry about what time I was leaving, if I had my lights and being visible. I rode on a dark MUP for part of the ride and city streets on the rest. It was a breeze. And I didn't have to remove the lights when I got home. Double win!
