Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Just got an email saying Kelly was closing his shop and will soon stop production of his bikes. Does anyone know any details?

From Kelly website:

Kelly Bike Company LLC calls it quits.

NEVADA CITY CA – Recognized worldwide as a high-end production steel bicycle frame manufacturer, Kelly Bike Company LLC decides to call it quits.

Kelly will continue to take orders for any “in stock” items until Friday, May 19th, 2006. Those last orders are estimated to ship by Friday June 16th, 2006, or once the last order is completed. Kelly will no longer take orders for any custom frame builds or assemblies.

If a person wants that special color & decal combination, or the popular “clear over decal” upgrade, this will be the last chance to get it like you like it. After the last order is completed and shipped the operation will be dismantled and every last item will be sold i.e. unfinished frames, tooling, equipment, raw materials, etc.

All remaining assets of the LLC will be sold on site and via online auction.

NEVADA CITY CA – ebay Auction Live! Bicycle Chemistry is the selected on line auctioneer to sell Kelly Bike Co. LLC assets. The first of many items to be auctioned is a once in a lifetime chance to build your dream frame with company owner and founder Chris Kelly.

As the final days of Kelly Bike Company quickly approach CK would like take the opportunity to share the experience of building the last frame ever to be built at the Kelly factory in Nevada City, CA with one lucky winner.

Bid to win:

• Two days in the shop to design, build and powdercoat your dream Kelly frame with Chris Kelly!

• VIP Guest Pass to the 46th annual Nevada City Classic -- the second oldest and most awesome one day bike race in the country. Epic!

• One on one time to meet and hang out with Kelly Factory riders Dorothy Wong & Stella Carey.

• and much much more.....

I saw Chris sometime in the last year and he was acting pretty weird. Wearing overalls and living in Nevada City seems to have brought him to his senses. What do you want to bet that he can make more money as a welder at some firm in Grass Valley than building cyclocross frames?
