Wide Profile Cantilevers
For those who race in New England, do you find it worth the decrease in stopping power to have the extra mud clearance offered by wider profile brakes? And just how poorly do they stop anyway? Sheldon Brown seems to think that they are awful. Lastly, the only affordable examples are the "Radius" brakes. Yes, Paul's are out... waaayyyy out. I can't seem to find much info on these (manufacturer, reviews, etc.). Is there anyone out there running these with some opinions on their performance?

I ride Paul Neo Retros on my Poprad and I've got no complaints. No worse in terms of braking power than any Avids I've ever ridden, for what that's worth.

I have Radius which are wide profile and YES they do brake really poorly. I haven't really tested them with a lot of mud though. Set up is as easy as others and they don't squeek.

Its apples vs. oranges. Canti brakes just work way different than modern double pivot road brakes, its more about modulation than brute-strength.
