Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

c/novice. i've raced in some "bandit" / "underground" cross series, but this will be my first official race. racing with way more people than i'm used to (and with people who i don't really know), i figure that the beginner class will be a good bet.

42/20 with 38c tires and 175mm cranks on my San Jose has gotten me onto the "B-class" podium in two of the BikeAuthority races. I initially was worried that this gearing was too low, but it has worked out pretty well for me so far.
