I only have a few x-cross races in my area and was wondering if I would be able to fit 700x30 tires in my road Ultegra brake calipers. Any tire recommendation would be welcome. Thanks!

short answer- no

longer anwer- your frame matters more, many road bikes especially higher end ones have very little frame clearance, larger tires would rub on the chain stays, the seat tube, the seat stay bridge (is that what its called) and/or the front fork. also ultegra brakes don't have much clearance, i know some companies make long reach breaks (or somthin of a similar name) with more clearance, and a brake swap is cheeper than a new bike, but still on most bikes you'd be very lucky if you could fit 28 knobby most bikes can fit a 28 slick, (a few will only go to 25) find a tire with low profile mud shedding knobbs, in a 28 (they exist but can't remember who makes what) and you might be able to do somthin, but first get some calipers and measure your frame so you know what your dealing with

other complications- when you run tires to the limit of what the frame can take you can get dirt build up, and little rocks will scratch your frame as they come around stuck to teh mud on your tires, also cyclocross bikes have a higher bottom bracket so you don't bash stuff, just ride carfully, if you have a nice set of wheels get a crappier set for cross riding so you dont beat up your nice rims

once again your are kinda fudging it so good chance it won't work or i missed somthin ect
